Recording problem - can you help me?

Hey there!

This is my first post (woohoo!) and it's about a frustrating problem I have encountered.
See, lately I've been using the program Acid Pro 6, using samples to create drumloops and such. Now, after familiarizing myself with Acid Pro, I want to record my guitar to the program, however, I can't get it to recognize that it's there, that it is plugged in! I've tried connecting my guitar directly to the Line-In port (using an adapter, guitar jack to little plug jack) and I've tried using my amp, by making the chain Guitar - Input Amp - Recording Out - Line In. However, when using both methods, I get to hear what I play from my computer speakers, but Acid pro doesn't 'hear'the sounds being made by my guitar. I've tried Audacity aswell, selecting the Line-In, but it doesn't seem to pick up any sounds aswell.
I hope someone can help me, cause I really want to record my guitar playing!

Thanks in advance!

Dave_M is an unknown quantity at this point
Sounds to me like Acid Pro might have some input preferences. Your PC's built-in output is feeding signal to the speakers. You need to assign the built-in input to Acid Pro. Check the software preferences.

Well there Dinges, more info is needed like the type of sound card (so that I know your onboard mixer is correct)
and the type of platform (apple or PC, XP or vista) but I can take a shot in the dark
that you haven't set up your (play-back and recording) preferences in control panel.
Right click on the little bell(volume) on the bottom right taskbar
select (open volume controls)
select options at the top left to open it then select properties
Here you will see both play and record mixer funtions
check record and make sure your mic, line-in, or stereo mix is checked depending if you want to record internally or not.

Does this help??
