Recording solos over rhythm track

When I record my solos and then try to mix it over the rhythm guitar track i just can't get an even mix where the solo stands out and has balls without drowning out the rhythm track!!!?? All I can get is either a loud solo and weak rhythm guitar or vice-versa. Any suggestions??? What's the key to it? I use Cakewalk GT and Guitar Port.

Thanks

Well, i guess all you can do is fiddle round with the mix until you get it. Although, a tip i got from here once (from scott parnell i think) was to add more mids to the sound ala satch. When you add more mids into the lead it cuts through alot more. Try recording the lead guitar with bass at 5, mid at full, treble at 6 and see how it sounds.

Yea id say satch boosts about 350hz. Try it.
