Recording with Mac Questions

Hi there,
I've a mac powerbook and that's what I use to record, plus the M-Audio Duo and the AKG C-1000S mic. I use the Bias Deck 3.5 program to record.
My questoin is: are there any pluggins or so, like a Tube Emulator for my program? Or any cool things you would recommend me?
Cause I know of many cool pluggins for Pro Tools, but PT is only good with the hardware, which I don't have, in my opinion.
Do you have any recommendations? I would highly appreciate any help you could give me.

Re: Recording with Mac Questions

If you are running OSX Panther I recommend you purchase iLife and get the Garage Band software for $49.
Garage band allows you to record via the USB port. I think I read that it has amp emulation but I urge you to check online to confirm that before you make your move.

I intend to buy myself Garage Band, as soon as I upgrade my iMac and get an extra hard drive to Run OSX exclusively. (I run ProTool free version for OS9 only and intend to keep thing separated, running both systems independently.

A friend of mine says he got ProTool LE for OSX and it comes with a M Box interface (preamp). It cost him $500 but he says it's awesome and ProTools LE comes with more plug ins than you can shake a Les Paul at.

I hope this helps.

Re: Recording with Mac Questions

Thanks Canyon...Yes I'm running Panther and yes I AM gonna get Garage Band...it's on it's way, a friend of mine is gonna send it to me. But the problem with Garage Band is, don't know if you are aware of this, that Garage Band is not a professional Recording Software so the bitrate at which you record is somewhat poor, or so I've heard. So basically GB is good for the sequencing thing it's got built in.
Any other ideas?

Re: Recording with Mac Questions

Sorry mondola...but if you REALLY record and work with a/v stuff digitally, you would know that macs are better.
Besides...mac is based on Unix...therefore...more stable...better overall.

All kidding aside, my take on it is that each can be a great tool depending on what your needs are.

Re: Recording with Mac Questions

Yes, but my question is wether anybody knows of any cool pluggins I could use, or any tips for me to record...like VST pluggins or so.

Thanks
