Removing Guitar from MP3\'s or wavs

I've heard some BT's on the site that are the original mix with the guitar tracks either removed (or volume lowered). Can anyone show me how to do this.I can buy any software needed and then will post all results. I absolutely love this site, it has increased my guitar playing exponentially and would love to pay back. Thanks again to POD GOD CHOAS and the rest, awsome job. Some early Van Halen tunes for instance have Ed's guitar on one side only. Same deal with some Led Zeppelin songs.
You can import these into your recording software and duplicate the right or left track on the oppsite site to end up with no guitar on it.
I have not tried it myself yet, but it appears very feasable.
