Hi people, new guy here.
I'm in the process of recording some
acoustic guitar but for some reason I get a very low gain recording. I'm using Cubase SX3 and have an acoustic guitar with a mic built in that is hooked up to an external soundcard: Edirol UA-25. The volume on the guitar itself is maxed and the sensitivity on the UA-25 is set pretty high but even if I set it to the highest possible I still get a weak recording. I also have a free mic on a stand that I tested and the result is similar with that so the mics themselvas are working ok. I'm guessing there is something I need to do with Cubase to get a stronger signal from the soundcard. What can I do? I am by no means an expert at using Cubase so any ideas/suggestions are welcome.
Btw, I tested to increase the Input gain on the track but the result is not good because that creates a lot of humming in the low ranges and loud noise in the high ranges of the sound. Just like turing the volume up on a very low sound, every little whizz gets magnified, not what I want of course. I need a clean strong sound.
cheers,
CML
