no problems mate. How does it work out using usb? I was going to go that route but read a few people going on about vst/dxi plugin and virtual instrument latency issues.

Thats interesting. Because I can get really killer sound quality with the thing. And after a while I did start to expierience latency issues. But it isn't the Layla Echo, im sure of it. It's my recording program: Sonic Foundry Vegas. Since sometimes last year, No matter what I do it screws up the timing of everything i record. I can't multi track anything without it messing up. And ive asked ppl what to do about it, but nothing has helped as of yet. It's not my unit though, its Vegas!

wierd. It could possibly be a usb issue but the best way to prove it is not is to see if any patches are available for the software or try an alternate recording program.

I use Terratecs Phase 26 for recording so I voted for external usb. It's great for recordings: lots of ins and outs, good pre-amp and asio-drivers.
The installation was a pain in the neck: I got either asio or Windows audio working, not both at the same time. I chose asio.
For Windows sounds I have the SB Live. So I use Terratec with Sonar and Guitar Rig, SB with Cool Edit and other stuff. Stupid, but I've learned to live with it.
I used to have an internal Terratec but I couldn't get it working anymore when I upgraded my motherboard and processor. Well, I'm not complaining: I sold the old one (for much less I paid a year ago) and got this usb-thing for free.

yip - I have the dmx 6fire and had the same troubles with my audigy card. I was hoping to use the audigy for midi but I am doing it in software now (Hyper Canvas, Super Quartet, and Native Instruments Battery.) I have now disabled the audigy and I just use the terratec for everything.

Realtek AC97 Audio
It's a piece of shit and makes noise when I want to turn up the gain in Amplitube.

Soundblaster Audigy 2.
I've been meaning to check out the Audiophile. I've heard some good things about it.
