the easiest way to upgrade, if you are worried about opening up the pc, is via a usb soundcard like the M-Audio Fasttrack
- these are more than sufficient and costs about £60 from http://www.dv247.com/invt/24169/
- or anywhere else.
its a good basic interface with a guitar input and a mic input. The only real difference between this and the card I mentioned earlier is slightly increased latency times. but it is good from the easy-ology perspective.
Another and probably more interesting option is the new Line 6 Toneport GX. the hardware is cut down to just one input and one stereo out but the software is the same as the more expensive toneports and that includes 23 amp sims and 30 fx.
- it also supports the guitar port online service and lots of other cool stuff. Excellent value for money.
