Alesis SR-16 Drum Machine

New to the forum, so don't know if this is the right place to post this question. I'm thinking about getting an Alesis SR16 Drum machine. Anyone owns one? and is this a good choice? I'll use it mainly to jam by myself at home. What other ones do you recommend?

Also if you have a decent computer you could always think of using a software based one such as battery or fruityloops. I had a Boss DR770 and once I discovered these programs i sold my drum machine and have never looked back.

I just got a SR-16 a coupla weeks ago offa eBay but haven't had time to sort it into my set-up yet. I'm told there as industry standard as a Shure SM57 or a Tascam 4 track so should be fun...if I ever get time to play with it!

They're great! I've used the same one since about 1989, it is versitile, easy to use and sounds ok. Needs reverb.

The SR-16 is a nice drum machine. I used to own one.

If your primary goal is to have something to jam with there may be better choices out there. For instance the digitech RP series of pedals have 30 drum loops built in. I think the rp80 is about $80. There are also some very cool devices like the Boss Jamstation.

I have "Band in a Box" on the computer and it is a blast. The only problem is that it is not portable.
