To be honest i havent played through either, but i dont hear great things about the v-ampire though. I've heard the spider II's are really good though. Someone else on here will definitely be able to give you a good comparison. Try the user reviews at www.harmonycentral.com if you havent already.

It'll come down to features won't it? Is one louder than the other? Is it 1 x 12 or 2 x 12? Rocker 35 has a Behringer...PM him and ask him what it's like?

Re: Behringer V-ampire vs Line6 Spider II 112

You cannot compare Line6 to Behringer. Line6 originates, Behringer imitates and will always be a "clone" of whatever Line6 puts out. This isn;t opinion, it's fact as you can go to any product review site and check out comparisons. I thought the NEW spider II's were very good. I prefer the 212 myself but the sound was just great. I liked the Flextone III's even more. But the bottom line was I already own a PODxt and either one of those would be a redundant purchase for me. I am going the route of using my amp modeller with the atomic amp, as soon as it ships. If you can afford the extra 100 or so, I say get the Flextone III XL 1x12. It is the inbetween model and allows for exteral cab should you require one down the road. It has way more features than the spider and sounds much better IMHO. Even if you cannot spring for the Flex, I think you will get a lot of use from the spider. You play both and decide what you like. I don't see how your ears will select the behringer over the line6 though.

Gee Stinger... No comparison based on your "Facts".

I certainly wouldn;t use an amp modeler outside of the home unless it was for recording. Are you playing gigs? Get a real amp that will do the job right. Modelers are nice toys for home, but when it comes to actually replicating that headphone sound in a club environment, it just will not happen. No matter how many "IMHOs", or how many people claim they can do it. THAT'S the bottom line.

Re: Behringer V-ampire vs Line6 Spider II 112

I haven't played out too much since the mid 90's, el_jal. I used to lug around a really old twin reverb. I have had to play a wedding not too long ago and the pod through the pa worked just fine.

Anyway, I think the question at hand was a behringer amp over a line 6. the v-ampire over the spider. I would pick the spider, as I stated.

My opinion is no better than anyone elses.

Ive read some good things about the behringer gmx212. Im thinking of buying one in a few weeks. They are analog, not digital. They have immitations of fender, marshall, and mesa boogie amps on board. http://www.behringer.com/GMX212/index.cfm?lang=ENG

And think how much it REALLY costs to make if they're making a profit on that! It really makes a huge difference when you get Ho Chi to make it for a bowl of rice (to eat while he works) or have to pay a union guy 30 and hour to bang it out.
