Books or Web Sites to Learn Amp and Effect Set Up?

Most of the information I find provides the components of various guitarist's rigs, but not the settings. Even knowing the basic approach to obtain certain sounds would help avoid the need for extensive "reinventing the wheel". I did find this one:

Any others? I am particularly interested in books or white papers. I want to understand what is "right" as a frame of reference for going further.

Also, if there are people that have this kind of knowledge, I would be interested in working with them...even paying for lessons or whatever, to obtain the knowledge.
