Boss GT-5

I've had a GT-5 for about 4 yrs. now and wondering if
any of you have/like this unit. I think it ROCKS
I also got a V-Amp for my birthday the other day(from girlfriend) so I don't have to ask my guitar buds to lug
thier amps over to my studio just to play a couple hours.
So, what are your thoughts on the GT-x series in general?

Re: Boss GT-5

I've got a GT-5, a GT-6, and a GS-10 and they are all sweet!
I swear by Boss! (Except for a few single pedals.) We are out-numbered by all the POD freaks here though! (Not that there is anything wrong with POD!)

Re: Boss GT-5

by the way, my brother uses a BOSS GT-X 5 in his live setup. He swears by it. I haven't seen or heard it yet, because I haven't been up North when he has been playing recently, but my little brother says it is awesome !!!

Mind you, he has changed everything recently...

Ibanez Guitars -> Gibson SGs
Peavey Amps -> Marshall's
Older Pedals -> GTX-5

It's supposed to be thumping. I don't think he's got used to the sound yet. My little brother said he struts around the stage with his jaw dropping to the floor, he just can't believe the sounds he comes out with himself.

I'm going up in the next month or so to see him play again. I'd love him to let me get on stage with him, but I'm way to shit and not enough confidence to do that yet.

Re: Boss GT-5

When I was playing out w/my band a couple years ago I was using the GT-5 with a pair of JBL 2way P.A. cabs and a QSC
power amp and WOW what a sound! My other guitarist had the
stack of Mesa Rect. cabs and a simulclass 2:90/Triaxis system. Well, everyone was complementing me on my BRUTAL tone and not him. He didn't like that too much at all! LOL! He actually got a little pissed off, mumbling something about how he spent more money on his rig
and that the people who were complementing didn't know what they were talking about!----- What a puss! Anyway just thought I'd share See ya

Re: Boss GT-5

I use mine since 1998 or so. Had it serviced once, because the input volume was broken. Sounds great after all this years but my Line 6 Amp sounds much better, which has newer algorythms and more computing power.

Re: Boss GT-5

I record with the Boss GT3 and use the Boss GX700 live so I am guess I am a BOSS user. I have used all kinds of effects units but these are my faves right now.

The GT-6 sounds a little better but, the GT-5
is much more versitile. By far

Re: Boss GT-5

have the GT-3 myself... am considering upgrading to a GT-6 after my guitar project is completed sometime in the future... i have gotten alot of cool sounds out of my GT-3, but right now I'm trying to get the best tone out of my BlueVoodoo120 so i don't have to play with the modelling... just use the GT-3 for the effects basically!

Goport will become famous soon enough

Re: Boss GT-5

I had the GT-3. it sounded great on most of my guitars except the one I used for all my live work. Just goes to show you should always test gear with your own setup before you buy.

I upgraded to a VG-88 and haven't really looked back.
