Re: BOSS GT-8???!!

Apparently it finally has an fx loop.

All amp sims feature Dual channels, as in a rhythm and lead channel.
More useful effects- loop, reverse delay, seperate comp, 2 effects per FX group instead of 1, seperate effects loop from the OD,

seemless switching between patches - that is pretty neat.

The main fear on the GT-6 group is that is might not be a significant enough upgrade on the GT-6 to make those guys switch. That said it seems to be pretty cool for everyone else.
I may have to buy one

Hi son ,
I think each amp model has switchable channels using the ctl pedal, just like a real amp - i.e. clean/rhythm and a lead channel.

The fx I named are new features that are not on the GT-6. and you can apply more fx per patch. Also it uses some kind of patch blending for when you change patches - I don't know how that works but I guess it is to make it less severe when you switch from a clean patch to a dirty one.

I may get one, it all depends on how much they cost. The really annoying thing is BOSS still haven't learnt that pod/v-amp users get so much more functionality by the usb port. The fact that they omitted one in the GT-8 when they provided one on the GS-10 (http://www.rolandus.com/news/pressde...sp?PressID=290) is fucking unforgivable.

And I think the reason it looks similar to the gt-6 is because they had to get a new unit out to compete with the new digitech/vox/line-6 etc. But to be fair there is not much difference in appearance between the GT-3 and GT-5 either.

I found a translation via babelfish posted on another board. It reads like gibberish but you may be able to pick out a few bits that make sense.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Those where you can call the largest eyeball of GT-8 are the dual COSM
amplifier section of complete independent channel 2 specification. The COSM
amplifier where the complete modeling of the vintage amplifier and the
popularity where you can obtain original amplifier sound are high
luxuriously 2 systems by the fact that it loads, width of the sound making
and possibility of performance spread rapidly.
It is possible, to be possible in each COSM amplifier, to change to
seamless, to mix and to output to allot the amplifier type which differs
respectively. In addition, L of stereo output/allotting the amplifier type
which differs to R, it can also use.
Furthermore, as for the COSM amplifier of channel 2, changing with pedal
operation not only as little as possible, also the change with the strength
of picking by the fact that it makes Dynamic mode is possible. By the fact
that it selects the optimum COSM amplifier according to the strength of
picking, until recently the fine sound make-up which is impossible is
possible. It can obtain rich expression power.
Furthermore, in each COSM amplifier, switch is equipped the convenient
Advanced Capability solo with such as live stage. You can obtain the sound
for the guitar solo which boost makes instantaneous and intense the switch
is turned on. In addition, because as for the solo switch, COSM amplifier it
is possible, to set with A/B channel each one, the sound variation was
freely used, play with the sound which is not buried to the band ensemble,
has the existence impression is possible.

<http://www.roland.co.jp/products/boss/image/GT-8/2.gif>

As for the effect which is equipped in GT-8, from the fixed turn effect
which it is essential to the sound making of the guitar, lining up all the
44 types to the unique effect only of BOSS which is unparalleled in other
things. Furthermore, because you can use simultaneously to 13 types, various
effects were combined, it corresponds to also the sound making which is wide
with room.
GT-8 colorfulness fully loads high quality effect, but when we would like to
use the favorite single unit effect which has already embezzled
simultaneously and the like, unifying also external effect, in order to be
able to utilize, it equips the external loop which becomes independent.
Of course, it is possible to insert external effect to optional position of
the effect chain, on/off of external effect (the bypass) it is the program
possible in the patch of GT-8.

<http://www.roland.co.jp/products/boss/image/GT-8/4.gif>

GT-8 which loads the COSM amplifier of abundant type, basic sound is decided
in favorite COSM amplifier type when and, when it modifies that from after
and the like, has loaded the pre-amp mode which is convenient.
When it changes to pre-amp mode, as for effect setting of each patch it is
possible that way to modify just the COSM amplifier section with all the
patch bundles. Comfortable editing environment is actualized.

<http://www.roland.co.jp/products/boss/image/GT-8/5.gif>

As for GT-8, the professional specification which can do the colorful sound
making with the substance multiple エフェクツ. Operativity and the
expandability which support comfortable guitar play in live stage and
recording etc. are had.
With foot operation furthermore way it can do fine effect control, the
expression pedal and the foot switch connected possibility. Adjusting to the
pedal/the switch of GT-8 itself, it can do various controls.
In addition, it is possible to control all elements which form, guitar sound
such as the amplifier control which can be linked transfer in channel of the
external guitar & the amplifier with the patch change of GT-8 with GT-8.
Furthermore, because it corresponds to also MIDI, remote it operates the
patch change of GT-8 from the external MIDI sequencer and the like, also
control of the external MIDI equipment is possible with the operation of
GT-8. Regarding the setting which combines the equipment many, it can do
efficient system management.
In addition as for GT-8, other than connection to input of the guitar & the
amplifier, various connections such as connection to the return of the
guitar & the amplifier and connection to the line equipment are possible.
Furthermore, without impairing the treble quality due to the transaction of
operation inside 24 bit it loads also the digital output of コアキシャル
which recording it is possible. It can also connect to direct to the digital
recorder and the digital mixer.

Thats ok son!

the ctl pedal and the expression pedal are perameter controllers for each patch, i.e. the ctl may be the on/off button for the wah and the expression pedal is the wah controller. without these you would have to program another patch with the exact same settings and the wah. just a way of saving space on patch memory.

you are going to have to read the manual son. I haven't got the gt-6 but I think it is done by a function called pedal assign. have a play and see what you come up with.

Mickey V,

Why is your avatar so small? Make it bigger so I don't have to strain my eyes.
