Carvin Legacy

Has anybody played one? What did you think? How is the gain? If you have one could you post a couple samples of just your guitar into the Carvin? I'm looking to buy a new amp, and the Legacys really appeal to me. I've heard the samples on the Carvin sight but I'd like to hear more. Thanks a lot!

Re: Carvin Legacy

We have Carvin SX100 at work. one of the few amps that have a true voicing on each channel. We use it as a house amp for demo's. Truly an awesome amp.

Re: Carvin Legacy

thanks for the info! I'm looking for something pretty versatile, and I think this amp is. I'm also looking at a Line 6 Vetta II, it sounds really good, but slightly more expensive!

Carvin Legacy

The Carvin Legacy is the loudest amp on the planet for only 100watts. The gain on the amp is more old school 80's metal rather then the new ultra gain nu metal variety. The clean channel is on of the best ones out there hands down. You will have to crank the amp or get a power soak to appreciate this amp. The amp also has a cool feature when you have the gain around 7 you back off the volume on guitar and it will clean up the sound.

Owned one, and agree (almost) completely. If you want metal tone, this amp on it's own doesn't have enough gain and is pretty mid-oriented. So the only thing I don't really agree on is the 80's vibe (I have an ADA MP-1, now that's 80-ies early nineties high gain stuff ). If you'd like palm mute tight punchy metallica-ish rhytms, this is not the amp you want. If you like FAT crunch, this is it. Vai sounds like he uses a nice deal of gain; but the balls in his sound come from the fact that he plays his amps set tremendously loud. I had the combo with 2 vintage 30's. well, at home I simply couldn't get past 1.5 on the volume. the amp really awakens at 6-7, which would make my house collapse. it is indeed loud as hell. the lead tone was not my thing, but the clean was maybe the nicest I've ever had.
