Clips of my Boogie Subway Rocket...

To my knowledge, there aren't any clips on the internet of the Mesa/Boogie Subway Rocket Reverb amp... So I decided to toss up a web page so that everyone who's interested check it out...

For those who don't know, the Rocket is a 20 watt all tube combo with a 10" speaker... though in these clips it's being run through a 4x12 loaded with Vintage 30s. It's a single channel amp with a switchable high-gain preamp... the gain stage also has a contour function that enhances the brutality of the distortion ...for a 20 watt combo amp, it's insanely loud.

Oh... one other thing... I'm not playing guitar in the clips... I got me a ringer with mad skillz to track the clips...

So... if you're interested, check it out

Actually, the thing that I think it does the best, you don't hear in the clips...

...not sure what I was thinking when we were tracking the clips, but we didn't record anything with the gain and the master dimed on the clean channel... the creamy crunch is godly....

oh well... one of these days when the neighbors aren't around, I'll track something and add it to the page....

The only drawbacks to the amp that I can see have to do with the single channel design... both the clean and the lead setting share the same eq... and the best sound for each involves requires changing the eq... which isn't practical on the fly... so... for the purposes of gigging you almost need an eq pedal of some sort in the FX loop... either that, or just find a happy medium and live with it.

...as far as studio amps go though, it's damn near perfect as far as I'm concerned

Wow that sounds nice. They really screwed up on the advertising of that amp. For some reason the name turned me off and i never tried one out. I would have never thought to try one until today.

How much can you pick up one of those amps for??

It certainly is the dogs nuts!!! I really love the sound of that amp, i'm thinking about buying a second amp to practice with (a 150w Spider II half stack really isn't a bedroom amp!!) and that almost sounds just like the settings i have for my Spider.

Is there any chance of getting a clip or two of the amps own 10" speaker so i know how it will sound without the 4x12??
