DIY CAB

Am looking into making my own cab as a eevning / weekend project.
Already have in mind a vintage 30 CELESTION speaker, with a Marshall or Peavy power amp (rack) so that I can put a slide shelf in the rack unit with my V-AMP2 sitting there!

Does anyone have any tips, techniques or angles for making the cab.
This forum seems to have a wealth of knowledge on it I've not seen anywhere before. Any help would be appreciated.

Typically what are the best materials to make the housing unit out of, and sizes for the unit to get the best sound from the speaker.

Cheers
