Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

--Following originally posted on Plexi Palace forums--
------------------
"Word has it him leaving is a done deal. That is why they are working on Satch and Lynch amps.

This was confirmed in a round about way by a Peavey service rep friend. They even deleted a post about this topic on the forum. The said something like negioations between Ed and Peavey are a private matter and not open to public discussion. Ed's formal contract with Peavey is up this month.

I think for the time being it will be status quo. Until Ed finds a venue for his new line of gear. Neither party is happy with one another. Ed not following though signing off on a 5150 II combo or mini stack, Word has it Ed is not happy with the Satch amp and says it is in direct compitition with his.

Anyway, we will see what pans out. If all of the EVH lines end or just the amps. Time will tell."
--------------
Interesting that Peavey is working on a Lynch amp, when George Lynch (of Dokken fame, for those who may not know) has been using Bogner for a while. (Check out this little scorcher!)

--From Bogner web-site-- "Eddie Van Halen entrusted Reinhold (Mr. Bogner) to overhaul and revitalize Eddies #1 Marshall Plexi, Eddie was pleased. BOGNER AMPLIFICATION was born."
I'm just speculating, but Eddie might rekindle a relationship there...
Allright 'nuff said, damn it!

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

I just became aware that Lynch dropped Bogner a while back, so maybe he was the inspiration for the XXX.
He is said to be leaning toward a more vintage tone (as opposed to high gain).

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

Very interesting, there have rumors about Ed leaving Peavey for a couple of months now. I believe I remember reading in a GW interview several years ago that Ed owns the patents or whatever to the Wolfgang so if he leaves he takes it with him, I don't know if has the same thing with the 5150 series amps though. Who is David Ellefson and why does he hate Eddie now? I am assuming he's the guy at Peavey? Why does he dislike Eddie nowadays?

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

He's artist relations, but think about ZMAN what has eddie done for peavey since '98 ? nothing (until now but it's too late) so they felt he was useless and they didnt like his attitude neither and he was fed up.

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

i dont know man....supposedly i heard that eddie still has nothing but great things to say about peavey....now if eddie really didnt like them he would voice his opinion....but it is possible that this whole evh art series thing is just a one time thing and that peavey will not see it as competition for its wolfgang line because of the outrageous pricing of the charvel guitars....so eddie may still be with peavey....we will have to wait and see!!!!

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

Either way Ed took Peavey from being a well known shitty bar band amp and turned it into something a lot of major guitarists want. Even if he leaves them, they have benefitted from the deal.
