Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

--Following originally posted on Plexi Palace forums--
------------------
"Word has it him leaving is a done deal. That is why they are working on Satch and Lynch amps.

This was confirmed in a round about way by a Peavey service rep friend. They even deleted a post about this topic on the forum. The said something like negioations between Ed and Peavey are a private matter and not open to public discussion. Ed's formal contract with Peavey is up this month.

I think for the time being it will be status quo. Until Ed finds a venue for his new line of gear. Neither party is happy with one another. Ed not following though signing off on a 5150 II combo or mini stack, Word has it Ed is not happy with the Satch amp and says it is in direct compitition with his.

Anyway, we will see what pans out. If all of the EVH lines end or just the amps. Time will tell."
--------------
Interesting that Peavey is working on a Lynch amp, when George Lynch (of Dokken fame, for those who may not know) has been using Bogner for a while. (Check out this little scorcher!)
http://bogneramplification.com/GeorgeLynch1c.mp3

--From Bogner web-site-- "Eddie Van Halen entrusted Reinhold (Mr. Bogner) to overhaul and revitalize Eddies #1 Marshall Plexi, Eddie was pleased. BOGNER AMPLIFICATION was born."
I'm just speculating, but Eddie might rekindle a relationship there...
Allright 'nuff said, damn it!

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

I just became aware that Lynch dropped Bogner a while back, so maybe he was the inspiration for the XXX.
He is said to be leaning toward a more vintage tone (as opposed to high gain).

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

Very interesting, there have rumors about Ed leaving Peavey for a couple of months now. I believe I remember reading in a GW interview several years ago that Ed owns the patents or whatever to the Wolfgang so if he leaves he takes it with him, I don't know if has the same thing with the 5150 series amps though. That thing about Eddie has been on the Bogner site for a long time. I think I saw it a couple years ago. I doubt he'll go with anyone for a while. Just my opinion.

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

If you go to George Lynch's site he said he has been developing a Peavey Brahma for 4 years, he says it will be able to do everything. He currently is using a Marshall Plexi I believe an SLP vintage model which he adores.

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

This story has been going for a long time...and with Ed, one can never be sure. He sure does speak highly of the 5150 and Wolf in his latest interview in Guitar world.

He should work out the issues with Peavey and stay put...he's not getting any younger and it takes time to build and market a new line.

And about Peavey making a JS and Lynch signature amp....good for them...it's not like Ed has been out touring a lot in the last 6 years and they are losing a lot of market share to Mesa and others....and that Wiggy was a complete failure.

Well as long as he's still with them, they'll be milking it for all its worth. Even if the relationship has turned sour.

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

hmm thats the down side to endorsement deals aint it . if you get sick of a certain brand then it can go rather sour when you try n part ways .. persoanlyl i think he should just shop around a while haha . nobody ha to stick to just one brand . although i tend to use marshall all the time .. i would infact prefer to be playing through a carvin legacy a la steve vai .. but of course .. you all knew that already LOL

Re: Eddie\'s dumping Peavey...

I REALLY DONT THINK IF HE WAS LEAVING THAT HE WOULD STILL BE TALKING SO GREAT ABOUT THE WOLFGANG AND THE 5150 AMPS...IT JUST WOULDNT MAKE SENSE. PLUS HES STILL USING THEM FOR A MAJORITY OF THE SHOW WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE SONG WHERE HE USES A KRAMER.
