Going from Guitarport to Pod

I'm giving my guitarport to a friend and buying a POD. Will my gtpt. custom tone patches work with the pod? I should be able to import them into the pod right?

The Line 6 Pod products have my interest. can someone give be a quick rundown of the differences between the Toneport, Guitarport, Pod, and Pod XT? I'm a little vague of their full uses. Are all of these computer based only, and/or can they be used as effects fed directly to an amp?
