Good amp for LWAN sound?

What's a good modern amp for Eddie's Live Without a Net sound? I'm guessing a Marshall, but I I don't know which one cause I hardly ever get a chance to try out amps. I can't make up my mind if I want Ed's mid 80's Marshall sound, or the early 90's 5150 tone. [img]images/smilies/headscratch.gif[/img]
