Good distortion pedal?
I want to get an Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses,... sound. Any suggestions?

You might be able to find a good tone in a DF-7 Distortion Factory. Or just get a multi effects pedal with a bunch of amp models and stomp boxes, like a GNX3 or PODxt Live

Thanx, but I already own a Behringer v-amp 2 and a digitech rp200a. I'm planning on selling the digitech and buying separate stomp boxes.

I wish I never gave away my old ProCo Rat II pedal. that was the best distortion I ever used.

I use the Boss PW-10 Wah Pedal. Which is a Wah with Distortion modeling. It models different wah pedals as well as different distortion pedals. I can get any tone I want from it. It has pretty well replaced all my other distortion pedals.

Buy a marshall.
No pedal will get you those sounds you're wanting... well.. the carl martin plexitone may get you close. It's the closest thing to a "marshall" sound I've heard.
What amp are you using?

It wouldn't do anything like Maiden or let alone GnR. MT-2 is by far the greatest distortion I use myself, but it's tone is too independent to make it sound like the above bands.

I disagree. I've tried any Marshall of MG series and I own one, but I find the build-in distortion lacking the versatility big time. It does a very good crunch, but it just couldn't compare to stomp boxes run through the clear channel.

If you go Digitech route, do not buy the Death Metal pedal. Get the Grunge pedal. The Death Metal pedal has no gain control, it has just one setting, full bore max gain, but the Grunge pedal does have a gain knob, and with it all the way up, its very, very close to the Death Metal pedal, but you can turn it down and get different sounds. Why be a one trick pony?
