Re: Got a POD XT tonight
These POD clips sound awesome around here. The only reason I started with a Vamp is price. I paid $175 for the rack mount Vamp and the POD XT rack mount is $600.
What really blows me away about these things is the sound you can get from a solid state device. I can get a great recording from my tube amp, but I had to buy a good mic and preamp and it's mono unless I add effects during the mixdown.
POD's are fast and easy...I cannot imagine anyone not liking one for home recording and practice.

you'll love it, honestly in the headphones nothing sounds better, the trick would be getting it to sound good live, at first I did not like the XT, I couldn't get a good live tone from it thru my rig as I did with the original POD but I found my problem you need to turn off the cab simulator on the XT for live aplications and it sounds a ton better, still working on it though. It's not the end all there are a *lot* of tones in that thing that sound like shit and you wonder if the guy programming the preset actually listened to the real recording or to the patch he just created.
you can get tones here www.customtones.com for whatever you want.

Re: Got a POD XT tonight
I love my XT. Lemme ask you guys with more recording experience a question. Would the final sound to my PC be improved greatly if I ditched recording to the SB Live and go for something like a firewire M-Audio device? I was thinking of getting the 410. What you fo's think?

Re: Got a POD XT tonight
I think any move you make to a 24 bit card/USB would be a major improvement, I just switched to a Audigy2 and its like night and day compared to the SB Live.

Re: Got a POD XT tonight
Eric, you have any luck recording with you POD via USB, or do you just go into the soundcard mostly?

Re: Got a POD XT tonight
Actually I had a bit of trouble with latency but I am just now getting it worked out but yes, I am using the new Audigy2 USB. Its so much better than the SB Live! so if you have that setup I definitely recommend it.

Re: Got a POD XT tonight
Eric, I am going to go this route:
http://m-audio.com/index.php?do=prod...1119907053a313
A colleague at work picked it up and I listened to some of the music he produced with it...it was awesome.
We should compare patches and tones, etc. I love Line6 products, esp. my POD

Re: Got a POD XT tonight
That looks like a nice unit....but why would you need 8 line outs when there are only 2 in?
