You can download whatever software you need for the POD from www.line6.com. Mine never came with any software, so I just downloaded it, including the latest flash upgrade.

As for recording software, just get hold of Cool Edit 2.0 which I believe can be made fully functional using knowledge from Pere Quisgard...

Which Behringer rack amp modeler did you end up with? I have the Behringer V-amp pro rack unit and it's a great piece of gear for the money. (I paid $175 new)

I bought the V-Amp Pro and I really love it. I only paid $199 new and besides hooking it up wrong I haven't had an issue (I tried to send my output through digital instead of analog). My bro' bought the Pod XT Pro and paid almost three times more and it does the same thing.
