Marshall AVT series

I have a Marshall AVT 50 watt head and the slant cab that goes with it loaded with 200 watt celestions.

The cabinet was designed to mimic the 1960 at a more affordable price. It doesn;t come with wheels, but I bought a set at Guitar Center for around $20 so I can lug the cab around much easier.

In a nutshell, I love it. This is my third Marshall, and the first time I relied on the amp for distortion. I used to always use a BOSS Metal Zone for distortion, but I am very happy with the AVT gain. The amp offers two channels: 1 clean and one dirty, and comes with a footswitch.

The 12AX7 tube driven preamp is coupled with solid state engineering to provide an affordable amp worthy of the Marshall emblem.

I have used this amp to gig in several clubs, and I have never turned it above 5 in a club. Additionally, the volume serves as a Master volume, so I can keep things turned down at home.

There is also a Headphone jack and CD input jack to play with your fave CDs.

Series FX loop and 2 speaker outputs to build you one helluva a kick ass Marshall stack

Click on the speaker above to see a picture of it.

Re: Marshall AVT series

I also own a Marshall AVT series amp thanks too EJ. I have the AVT-50 combo amp, and it is one of the best combo amps out there for the price. I got it new at American Musical for 450 using the payment plan. I do miss the tube sound I got with the 5150 combo, but that was just too akward too lug around and just too loud for my living space.

I'm not too fond of the combo's distortion cause it can get a bit muddy when I crank the gain up. The clean channel is very glassy and add a dash of chorus and i've got a 316 sound. I use my J-Station right into the amp though and just use all of my settings on there for clean and dirty stuff. Once I get my POD i'll really be set for what I want in my sound, and i'll be using that right into my amp as I do with the J-Station.

For 50 watts this fucker is loud as fuck! I can do dives on the E and A strings and my whole room will shake. Very cool indeed

I might uprade too the half stack eventually when I start gigging in the future, but for now the combo is perfect for me. As EJ once told me, once ya go Marshall ya never go back

Re: Marshall AVT series

I had that exact same amp Sucka and I could get a lot of great sounds out of it with the integrated effects. It was the best combo I ever owned and I would highly recommend it. If I had to list why I sold it:

1. It could never really push any nut rattling low end without breaking up...and my neighbors love that low end crunch my 5150 gives them.

2. While the effects were very smooth, they had a lot of limitations if you wanted to combine things.

3. I could never get a good high gain lead sound out of it without adding some type of pedal up front and using the clean channel. It always sounded muddy, or buzzy, or fuzzy when I used it without a pedal.
