Marshall MG-30DFX
Anybody have this amp? I'm thinking about buying it because hauling around my Yamaha is too much. I really messed up my back lifting it last time I had to take it somewhere. This will probably be hooked up into a PA, so volume isn't a problem, but I'd like to hear your opinions on the tone/overall amp. Thanks.

Re: Marshall MG-30DFX
I think it probably won't be juicy enough for gigs. You might be hooking it up to the PA but you still got to have a good monitor for your onstage ears. Secondly, I'd always recommend at least a 2 x 12 to get a decent spread...soon as you walk out of the main range of a 1 speaker combo with a band blasting alongside you, you lose the lot. Look for a 2 x 12 of 100w on E-Bay. I would personally recommend a Line6 Flextone 2 XL combo. They're pretty good prices at the moment, versatile as hell, true stereo and come loaded with chorus, reverb, delay, noise gate, flanger, wahwah, tuner and volume pedal (if you can get hold of the floorborard). Finally they have a great Marshall, Boogie and Soldano setting and you'll also get Twin Reverb, Vox etc etc.Very versatile and good value at the moment!

Not you. McFly. McFly posted this question at VHforums as well, but I already answered him there instead of here.
I accidently answered in your post, then deleted my remark after I realized it was your post and not mine! Pardon me.

Re: Marshall MG-30DFX
Yeah, EJ, I saw your post and responded over at the forums all ready. Wahwah, I have a 2 x 12 combo already, that's the problem. It's a pain too lug around because it's really, really heavey. Every time I take it out I hurt my back (I know, i know, lift with your legs, not your back), and I don't really need that big of an amp everywhere I go.

Re: Marshall MG-30DFX
What about running a Pod/V-amp direct through the PA.
Providing that you have a reasonable power amp & the monitors can handle it. It would be much easier to lug around than a combo

That's all your problem is? Pussy Buy some wheels at Home Depot or Guitar Center. I bought a set of removeable Ernie Ball casters for my Marshall 4x12 cab from GC for $19. Buy 'em from Sam Ash, then get a couple of effects peddals with the gift certificate

Re: Marshall MG-30DFX
It does have casters! Getting it up on the truck and back down is the problem.

The Flextone only weighs 32lbs as it's not a valve amp!
