Re: Marshall MG100DFX
I haven't had a chance to play one of these babies. I was thinking about grabbing the MG100DFX head and Marshall cab a few months ago, but didnt have the cash. I'd love to hear what you think of the combo once you get it. Here are some reviews if you haven't already read them:

Re: Marshall MG100DFX
Well i have the MG50DFX and its really nice. The contour knob setting really gives you great versatility with distortion sounds, and the clean channel is more than acceptable. The on board effects are really nice, i especially like messing with the delay.

Re: Marshall MG100DFX
How is the distortion on that amp? Is it good enough for hard rock/metal sounds? Or do you use a distortion pedal with it for extra umph?

Re: Marshall MG100DFX
I tried the half stack on this, and I loved the Crunch on the clean channel. It's was pefect for me, but since it was on the clean channel, I couldn't use any of the effects on the distorted channel, which I didn't like as much as the first channel... Ended up with an AVT 50 head and cab, but I've told that story too many times to tell it again!

Re: Marshall MG100DFX
I own the half stack and I like the od2 channel but now I mainly use a PODxt into the effects loop with the effects level turned all the way up, so mainly it's a power amp for the POD, works quite well though.

I was eyeing this amp, too. I'm glad to hear everyone's feedback.

i had this 1/2 stack and its not bad for a starter rig....i cant complain about it at all...
i have since sold the head , kept the 4x12 cab and replaced the head with a mesa boogie triple rectifier
all in all the marshall is a decent rig..

I owned one of the 1x12 combos and thought it was a pretty good amp for it being a solid state. It had that Marshall sound, and could cover everything from nice cleans to blues, to all out grind. It's a well-built amp, and with the contour switch on the drive channel, it opens the door for alot of different sounds.
I'd highly recommend the amp. For the price, you can't beat it...excellent tones and pretty reliable.

I have the MG50dfx and also the MG100HDFX full stack. Great sound out of both of them. On the 100 I like the clean/crunch so far.

The more I mess with it the better the OD2 channel sounds on the MG100HDFX.
