New Amp

What would be the best size amp up from a 10W for a learner and any idea how much it would cost?

Line6 Spider...great effects and a headphone socket to give your Mum and Dad a rest. Best to buy one second hand on e-bay if you want to use up less pennies

Re: New Amp

Go for a behringer gmx210. They are extremely cheap, have built in effects, and sound great (although ive only had experience with the 212 version). Plus, if you jam with a band, the behringer will have all the power you need for quite a while.

For $349 USD, how the hell can you beat the Carvin SX100?

Re: New Amp

You should try a Behringer Vintager GM110.
30W, 10" speaker, FX loop, DI out, speaker out and phones out.
It's an analog modelling amp. 3 types of amp (loosely based on Fender for cleanish sounds, and Marshall and Boogie for the rest), with three levels of gain and three speaker modes... the range of sounds on this thing is enormous. The clean is not brilliant, that lets me down a bit... but the marshall-esque model is great... which also gives almost clean sounds...
It just lacks a reverb, but you can put your favorite pedal on the FX loop... and it cost £79!!! How wrong can you go?
If it just had a better clean sound, it would be a total killer amp. However I hear that it sounds better when you use the speaker out to plug it into a 1x12" cab with a good speaker... plus a lot louder.
Seriously, give it a try... it doesn't cost much more than an FX pedal, and it's great for home while also keeping up for jams (I used mine for a 3-hour jam with a loud drummer, bass, and three other guitars... no problem!).

Re: New Amp

I'd try the new Line 6 Spider II 15watt or the 30watt model. They sell for $159 & 199 respectively.
