Peavey Classic 30: Replace tubes and speaker?

Hey guys, just in time for the Christmas season I'm considering replacing the tubes and speaker in my Peavey Classic 30 amp. From what I hear, people say replacing the tubes with something else (like JJ's, whatever those are) and the Blue Marvel speaker for a Celestion Greenback is worth it. Is it? I need your opinion and was wondering whether you guys could help. Thanks, and all the best.

Yep, all stock parts with Blue Marvel Speakers and all. I'm pretty sure I need to change the tubes also, but I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions and opinions

The stock tubes and speakers in most amps today are not great. Changing them and the stock speaker would make a world of difference. I've heard good things about Eurotubes http://www.eurotubes.com/index.htm. Talk to them and explain what you want, what type of sound you're after and they'll help. For a speaker you can get Celestion at http://www.tubesandmore.com or Weber at http://www.webervst.com. Weber's are excellent and they're also good at recomending the right speaker for you.

Awesome, thanks Starr! I'll look into that, but just to make sure, if my tubes are rattling, is that indication i need to change them?

Thats the nature of the beast with a Classic 30. try isolating the chassis with rubber washers at contact points where the screws pass through the cabinet into the chassis. I've had good success with that.
