POD 2.0 to 2.3 update.

I registered my POD 2.0 online today and called customer support to ask for the 2.3 Eprom chip upgrade.

It should be coming in the mail soon.

Has anyone here done this mod before? What is to be expected from it? Some say even better tone...

What's your take?

When you first power up the POD, it should spell out P.O.D. 2. 0, or 3, depending on the version.

Of course the POD is old tech compared to the POD xt, but as you know, it, you still can generate out-of-this-world tone from it anyway. I'm not about to toss mine.

It's not what you've got, it's how you use it and what you do with it that counts...

On that count, you dump all over what I do with my POD xt dude !!!

when you power up your pod.. hold down manual butun while turning it on,, thenit should spell out ,,, p.o.d.,,, then 2.0. ,,,, then 2.3,, if yours has the upgrade.. this is what mine did atleat when i did that. so i take it i ahve the upgrade lol and i didnt even know it either. And your right canyon,, can get amazing tone out of this pod..

Re: POD 2.0 to 2.3 update.

Actually, there never was a POD 2.0, the first 2.x series released to the public was the 2.1(although it said 2.0 on the casing).
Here are the main differences...

POD VERSION 2.1 IS DIFFERENT FROM 2.2

Latch mode was added
- Hold down Tap Tempo and Manual at the same time
-- Manual and tap tempo will flash
-- All dials act as if you are holding down Tap tempo

Delay carry-over was removed to allow for Latch mode
- When you switch patches your delay will not carry over, it turns off

POD VERSION 2.2 IS DIFFERENT FROM 2.3

Some amp models were slightly changed
- Most noticeably the marshall sims

Some cab models were changed
- Most noticeably the NO CAB sim. Sounds a whole lot better.

**Flextone versions changes are the same as POD after 2.1. But, the Flextone skipped 2.3 and went to 2.4. 2.4 on Flextone is the same as 2.3 on POD.
