POD Eruption setting

Just for the curious this is the PODxt's setting for the evh sound. It's close. It always sounds better in the headphones directly from the pod, but always sounds compressed after it is recorded. Any thoughts on this?

Hey, that sounds great, I can't wait to get a POD, I have a Korg AX1500 and the distortions are shit. But the distortion you have just used sounds great man and the playing too.

Re: POD Eruption setting

The sick thing is, that I did this in the bedroom with headphones while my fiance' was watching a movie! It's unbelievable what people have available to them these days. Yeah, get a pod, you won't be disappointed! Note: that was not a distortion setting, but rather how an old Marshall sounds when cranked up. When I ease off on the volume on the guitar it cleans up just like the real thing!

Re: POD Eruption setting

All I know dude, is wahwah used this setting for a while, and I think eric uses it in a lot of stuff, and it's always sounded fine to me.

Re: POD Eruption setting

Loved your clip Wahwah!
As far as I'm concerned these Pod's are a miracle!
Now this is my problem. I can't get it to sound like that in the final recording! I must have too much stuff between the POD and the hard drive: POD to Mackie 1202 mixer to a Delta series "break out box" and then into the computer. I'm also using Cool Edit to record and have noticed that when I convert the final wave to an MP3 there occur es some compression. I really like your sound and mine too (at times), but want something between the two. If I plug the pod directly in using the usb port does that help? How have you got yours set up?
Lets have some more clips! -this is interesting.

Re: POD Eruption setting

I was always a big fan of the 12-B "Eruption" setting . . . UNTIL Line6 had that big update a while back.

Here's an attachment of a version of Eruption I did about a year and a half ago when I first got my PODxt (ver 1.05).
The tone I used is the factory setting - there's no tweaks at all on the tone.

Currently I have all the latest updates that Line6 has released, and I REALLY do like the improvements for the most part, but the new "Eruption" setting just doesn't warm me up like the old one did.

Straight into the soundcard mate with nothing in between. Rols was saying a few months back that he had a problem with his live but he had like a ton of stuff coming thru before and after. These things are built to do all that for ya. I reckon nothing in the chain is the best way.

Yep, I do still have it, but the Line6 update changed the characteristics of the amp that was used for that tone.

When I reloaded that tone back into the POD it pretty much sounded like the post-update preset. I've tried tweaking it, but the warmth is totally gone.

Re: POD Eruption setting

Here is another clip going directly into the sound card. Not sure what to think yet.....work in progress I guess. Don't get me wrong, the PODxt is sick, I'm just not getting a good recording yet.
Shit, thats worse than my other one.....how do you guys get those sickass recordings???
