POD XT DISTORTIONS
Hello guys.
I´ve just bought my POD XT yesterday and for some reason i can´t find a non-digital distorted sound (a natural distortion). They all sound kinda fake. But thats weird because i´ve heard POD XT distorted samples in line6´s webpage and they all sound awesome. For example... the "eruption" sample sounds amazing... Well... i CANT get that sound with my POD XT and my Gibson Les Paul Standard WHY????? But i must accept that the Jazz Clean sample sound exactly the same played with my axe.
My question is about distortions, thanx
Regards,
Tom

Re: POD XT DISTORTIONS
Thank you very much for the patches!
I have a question... I´ve downloaded the patch of "Back in Black" from proyect80´s page. The recorded sample of that song is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from the patch he posted on his page. That´s exactly what i want to know... why patches doesn´t sound exactly as the recorded mix. (i must accept that the recorded mix is AWESOME, nails DA tone perfectly). Let me tell you that i use phones ¿maybe thats the problem? i dont think so. Im confused
Thanx for your good advice.
Regards,
Tom

Re: POD XT DISTORTIONS
tompetty, patches are designed against different VERSIONS of firmware on the PODxt. If you just bought yours you prolly aren't at the latest version, prolly only 1.01 or 1.02. Go to line6.com and update the firmware on your device. Patches sound very different on a different firmware other than the one it was made for. Also, the podxt sounds different depending on the settings, do you have it set for direct/pa, or 4x12, read you manual and understand your hardware before you frustrate yourself. Unline the previous POD model, this one involves a lot of tweaking and is capable of a huge amount of tones by that fact alone. The links I posted will help you get the most outta your pod. Don;t forget to use the discussion forum on line6.com and search for questions there. There's prolly nothing you can ask that hasn't already been asked and covered on that forum (I didn't include it cuz it's obvious that the vendor's forum would be the main and most important).

Re: POD XT DISTORTIONS
Hum. i never thought about upgrading my device (cause "if its new it must have the latest firmware") Maybe thats why the "eruption" doesnt sound exactly the same as the line6 webpage. I hope that can change my sounds and get better distortions.
Ok, i will upgrade my POD.
Another question: Have you downloaded the Back in Black patch and the mix tone sound exactly the same on your POD?
Thanx

Re: POD XT DISTORTIONS
Yeah. KC's site was one of the first ones I used to go to when I first started amp modelling. I get pretty much the same tone as he does with his patches. Remember something though...90% of the tone comes from the fingers Not really kidding here...the type of guitar you play, type of pickups, your playing style...all affect the final sound.

Re: POD XT DISTORTIONS
Yeah, I got one called 'Eruption' that was on there. I used it on the 'Feel Your Love Tonight' collab and it sounded pretty close to the original when everything else was put beside it. I can write down the settings for you sometime soon if it's any help?
The 'Gary Moore' setting I use is simply a JCM 800 setting with some delay and some overdrive...nuthing special and I think I posted the settings somewhere a few months back...not sure where tho!

Re: POD XT DISTORTIONS
Well, like Stig said. A lot's in the guitar, and your fingers.
You're just one shredding dude, wahwah !!! Can you amputate your fingers and send them to me ?

Re: POD XT DISTORTIONS
On the pod, if you are listening through headphones, make sure it is set for direct/pa, as opposed to the other settings like 4x12, etc...
btw, I attached some of my "private stock patches" for you. Unzip and use either guitar port or line6 edit to load it up.
