POD Xt live Help

Before anybody rips me for not doing a search here or on Line6 I have already done so. Unfortunately either I am an idiot or I cannot find it.

I bought a XT Live about a month ago. Ran the updates, installed the drivers, Guitar Port, Line Monkey, etc...

I have been reading that you can play and record using the USB connection.

Unfortunately I cannot get it to play, let along record.

My computer is a dog (p3, 667mhz) and running USB 1.0. Guitar Port works though works.

However in order for me to hear my guitar, I need to run my 1/4 into my soundcard (Soundblaster Platinum). Cannot get USB to transfer the sound. I have changed my soundcard preferences within to be the POD but nothing.

I see something about Guitar Port Hardware needing a powered USB hub. Do you need this to hear audio through a USB?

If not then what am I doing wrong?

ok first off pod xt live takes over as sound card when plugged in usb so for u to hear u need to run speakers out of xt live's headphone or line out , as far as recording u need to go into control panel in windows and goto sounds and multimedia and select pod xt live as recording device and as playback device , then in your recording software check options make sure pod xt live is selected as recording device, i use adobe audition so when recording, i insert backing track as track 1 then record my guitar on track 2, if i want more guitar i lay down a track on track 3 then just mixdown to file , i hope this helps

problem could be having no speakers hooked up to xt live when its hooked up and selected as soundcard there will be no sound from pc speakers all sound comes thru xt live, btw when using usb the channel level determines level of guitar in recording not output level (knob on back) so i found the having guitar on about 7(channel level) works good for recording output level might be a bit lower but its the channel volume thats important when using usb

Download the Monkey software and install latest version. It should configure as a seperate sound device in your device manager, which will allow you to hear it through the computer without hooking anything other than the XT to it. If all else fails, call Line 6 to see if they can guide you, but by all means if you need repair service, send it back through the dealer you brought it from. I got one with a bad USB and they had me take it to a repair center and the guy really screwed it up. Good Luck, George

Thanks for the help. Will try some of the ideas out and see if it works.

I think I maybe stuck using the 1/4 since my version of Cubase and my computer are so old.
