PODxt Editor

I am going to check this out http://customtone.com there is an editor that you can create your own stuff with. If there are enough people interested maybe we can start up a forum for exhchanging POD patches, they are pretty small so we could have oodles of them on here with out a sweat.

Re: PODxt Editor

I'll be interested mate as my software for editing that came with the POD won't open even after repeated retrying. I want some nice clean tones. Do you store them on your pc and load them up via midi ir just by the USB? I'm only asking because the unit only holds a few custom settings doesn't it? I must read the bloody manual...if I can find it!

Re: PODxt Editor

Yeah it looks like you have to sacrifice when you save tones but I'm not really sure, I will download the software tonight and see what all is involved. I use the USB only but I think that will work according to their documentation, if not I will have to setup MIDI

Re: PODxt Editor

I think it serves a different purpose in this case though. It's mainly used to just channel sounds and then it puts it back together in a POD tone, I could be wrong but that's how it seems.

yea the USB is the way to go, it's super super easy, and with PODXT editor all you have to do when your done is click a button to send a tone to the online library, I tried to get the Meanstreet Tone and sent one there for someone else to grab and try, I didn't get it and couldn't.
it sounds ok doing Unchained but not MS, anyway back to the subject, the guitar port software is toally cool to,
and again the thing sounds great recording.

Re: PODxt Editor

Okay that's good to know, so I don't need the MIDI stuff then right? Also, I think you can save settings into the POD software and not have to overwrite patches on the POD istelf. It looks pretty easy to save stuff and then upload it, I think all you need is the .gpt file and you can save it and use it.

Hi,
there are only 4 patches you can save as user files on the XT (one of the stupid things about it ) if you want to save more you have to overwrite existing patches.
So anyway yea you don't need MIDI for nothing it works just as well if not better thru the USB, you can recored directly to cakewalk thru the usb and also when you bring up either XT editor or Guitar port you can work on your tone point and click, never even touching a knob ont he pod, whe you get what you want you want and your in the right patch you just hit save twice on the pod and it's there, also asi said if you wnt to name it and send it to www.customtones.com all you do is hit the save to pod online (or something like that) and it send it directly to the online library
As I said I saved one trying to get the MS tone, I couldn't do it so I put it out there for someone else to try.

Re: PODxt Editor

Thanks for the info Rol, you can save as many patches as you want into your guitar port (or pod) software though correct? This way you don't have to worry about overwriting anything on the pod itself. Only thing is you would have to draw up the saved patch from the software anytime you wanted to use it.

Re: PODxt Editor

You'll have to explain that cos at the moment I just get and sound and then lose it after I've finished recording!

Re: PODxt Editor

I would like to test this. When I get home I will upload a .gpt file, maybe one of you can download it and let me know if it works. If so, I would really like to setup an exchange forum for patches.

guitar port has all the original presets in it so if you ever want one of those back they are there, and I do get confused between xteditor and guitar port I forget what does what but what they do is a lot, ok what the hell did I just say ?
