If you are after the Dimebag tone, unless you have tons of money to throw around or want it for a collectors item, go for an older 80's or 90's Randall RG100 or RG100ES 1/2 stack. That is what dime used before they made the warhead. The warhead sounds awesome but you are really paying for the name. Having said that, I want to get one someday, just to have - not to gig with.

I definitely agree with Amra. If you're wanting the Dimebag tone, go for an old rg100. I've heard that even after the warhead was made, when he'd use them on stage, they were just dummy amps. He was really still playing through rg100's.

First of all yes i can play. 2nd, it did not and i mean not have the dimebag tone, the sustain and clearity was not there, and it was muddy sounding. Hell I played a 300.00 crate and that sounded better. It's just my opinion.

I have never heard a crate that sounded GOOD, much less better than a Warhead.

If you really want dimes tone screw the warhead and old randalls get a krankenstein made by krank. Its hands down the baddest amp I've ever played and has dimes tone to a tee! http://www.krankamps.com/

Kranks are bad ass, but the brutal 'signature' Dime tone that everyone knows from the Pantera years all came from Randalls. Dime switched to Krank when he left Pantera to go to Damageplan, probably because his Randall endorsesment was tied to the Pantera name. Randall's were good enough for him during all of those Pantera years, so they are good enough for me.

Its like trying to get satchs tone with a older marshall. The new peavy jsx amp captures his tone perferct right from the store. The krankenstein is the same with dimes tone.Dime told me that when the warhead came out it was "the shit" when it come to his tone an low end..But ya have to admit with modern technology theres always something new around the corner. Those kranks are badass!

yer i wouldn't mind one of those krankensteins but there a wee bit expensive and there hard to get over here in australia. plus im only really looking for a combo cause a halfstack is just too much for what im looking for. but yeah i would love to have a krank ive heard they are monsters. but amra's right im looking for that brutal pantera tone. as much as i love the krank tone, me personally likes the pantera dimebag tone most coz thats when dime was at his best. but yeah thanks for the advice!.

well i went to the store today and gave the warhead a go. i was really impressed it had a really beefy dimebag dist and i had barely had the volume nob past 1 i needed to play with the 9band eq for a bit but i got a really nice tone out of it and believe it or not the guy in the shop first turned it on and got a really nice blues tone out of it. then gave me ago and i started sussin it out and was getting some really awsome dist out of it. and it has a really nice clean channel too which was a bonus i heard it was too bright but they were wrong. i played with it for about an hour and thought man i gotta have this amp. another shop assistant was there and he had a ibanez jem which looked fukin awsome and was surprised about the dist coming from it. so i bargained with the guy and he was really nice and it started at $2350 but i talked with him and he knocked it down to $1900 because they didn't have the soft cover to come with it. so i lay-byed it and ive only got $1530 to go and ill have that thing roaring in my bedroom!!! plus it had the 16 digital effects which werent spectacular but were impressive. and for lead it was actually good. i thought with that amount of gain it wouldn't go very well but surprisingly not. well cant wait to get and record some chunky riffs cheers!
