I thought he was all about the lows and highs? I don't know for sure though

Sounds like buzzsaw mids to be honest. He does give the illusion that he has lots of highs, but there sure seems to be lots of mids in there. Anyways, sorry for sidetracking as I dont have the real answer to your question.

Well instead of guessing you can watch this video of JS himself explaining it all with his demo of the JSX amp.

lol...i just checked mine and it matches this pic of Joe Satrianis...3 to 4 on the tone, 7 to 8 on the dist....anyway i own a jsx and I* keep my mids at about 4 and my t's and b's are about 5 or 6.....Joe's mids are mostly derived from pickup switch and wah...IMO

Thanks for the help guys. I took axeshredders advice but on my marshall I set everything up one notch above what he did. It sounds fairly close now. I should be posting some covers soon.

People can say that all they want, but fingers dont add more reverb, delay etc etc

For amp settings, i was once told:
treble - 7
mids - full
bass - 4

Dang, Satriani sounds good in the video. I have wondered how he gets the high harmonic squeals.... Looks like he pulls it off with NO problems.....
