The chinese are getting better at making tube amps

I visited a guitar store in shanghai today and had a play on a chinese made all tube half stack and was rather impressed to say the least. The price was 5800rmb (about $800US) for both head and a closed back 4x12. Could likely be haggled down some more. It sounded like a hot rod marshall to be honest - chunky, deep and suprisingly warm tone. 100w, 3 channels with clean, low gain and high gain. It was a bit farty on the clean at high volumes but I didn't play around enough to find out why. The gain channels were great. They said the speakers were EV's and the tubes local chinese brand. I could see into the amp' back ton confirm any of this though. The amp looked and felt very rugged and heavy. I reckon with better tubes and a decent tranny they could be a worthwhile budget LOUD amp.

I'll get some pics and more details on the model (there didnt seem to be a brand) next time I visit the shop over the weekend.

Here are the model details, I found the amp on the net:

DG-100H
Hangzhou Yiwei Electronic Audio Equipment
Power: 100W
Speaker: 4*12”celestion speakers
Functions: Reverb, Volume control, Treble middle bass, Channel select, Overdrive channel (treble, middle, bass), Gain, Send and return level, Foot switch (effects/reverb), Impedance selector, loudspeaker output, Ground/lift switch and so on.
Dimension: Head 77.5*36.5*35.5CM, Cabinet 84.5*44.5*85.5CM

The guys in the shop may not have understood the amp'd details correctly - the webpage states celestion speakers but not what type. I also didnt notice reverb on the amp in the store but I could have missed that knob (or it was translated wrongly LOL)

Actually Ive been in touch with the company and they invited me to visit their factory and demo their amps at the upcoming shanghai music expo in Oct. Im going to give them some suggestions on their amps and recommend some ways they can distribute overseas. They seemed genuinely thrilled at this idea because they have no foreign consultants or even guitarists helping them with their amps. Hopefully they can get their name out there because their amps are totally rocking for the price. Simple, old style tube head - no solid state or gimmicks. I thought they sounded very close to a hot rodded marshall. $700US for a 100W head and 4x12 with celestions. Not bad.

You could try contacting the company directly but usually that's for bigger orders.
