Upgraded my POD XT Now I want to go backwards

I prefer the older Pod XT firmware (1.04 which I had instead of the 2.01 which I now updated to). Is there a way to go back and what happens if I do? Will there be anything I should be aware of as I would like it to be the old POD XT I knew and loved....thanks in advance.

Fear not, unless you deleted the files for some strange reason, he monkey program automatically backs up your old patches upon install of 2.0. Look under \My Documents\Line 6\Tones\Line 6 Monkey

Whatever you had under there before upgrading should be saved. To revert back a release, just use monkey and grab 1.05 or 1.04 or whatever your favorite one was and refer to the above mentioned dir to regain the older patches you may have made prior to upgrading to 2.01.

Hope this helps you...

Re: Upgraded my POD XT Now I want to go backwards

Thanks Stingx...Bless you man!! Made my night to hear the good news!! It's that parametric EQ I really don't like...on the other hand, the extra storage for custom creations is a great thing to have. But for my style...a lot of metal tones is not necessary...I would rather save over those and tweak some others to get that mello vibe I seem to have lost...I especially don't like the Marshall Super Lead on the newest version...sounds nothing like the real deal I have right next to me...but tone is a personal thing..Thanks for the reply!! Re: Upgraded my POD XT Now I want to go backwards

I play more bluesy material than metal myself and I have found some killer, non-metal, goodies in the models packs to go with the 2.x release. You sure you spent enuff time playing with it? There's no way in hell I would go back to the prior release. I am actually hoping for even more model packs to be offered.

What about the "double show" - http://www.line6.com/media/modelPacks/Double%20Show.mp3

or the "L6 SuperSpark" - http://www.line6.com/media/modelPack...%20Sparkle.mp3

3fingers... It does take getting used to, but it is way better than the 1.xx version. All your old tones will need to be tweaked, since all the cabs were revoiced. Just don't use the PostEQ if you don't need it. It's just like when they went from the POD 1.x to 2.x... You just need to re-dial stuff in because it's not as forgiving as the previous version. You have a wider palette now. All those great tones are in there... believe me!

Re: Upgraded my POD XT Now I want to go backwards

OK guys!! With such strong enthusiasm...I am going to go plug it in and try to get some MOJO flowing...!! Incidentally, i was at Institude of Noise all day yesterday looking things over for advice on this and the patches. IF i can get a groovy enough Marshall Plexi patch in this firmware, I will keep the current config. (Why Marshall, if I like mello stuff??? Because they also sound awesome with the volume rolled back and some tone roll off on the guitar...) Thanks guys for your support!!! Much appreciated.

Re: Upgraded my POD XT Now I want to go backwards

3fingers, send me an email at az@instituteofnoise and I'll send you about 100 patches. Many use the model packs though, which I highly recommend. Buy the model packs and try it, return them if you don't. You can then try bunches of patches and see if your happy with it.

I've got a few killer Plexi patches I've used on some tracks so far. My SexyPlexi is a factory Line 6 patch now, but I have amodified version of that I use all the time in the studio. Just roll teh gain way back on the Plexi and it makes a great clean sound. Check out my ToneZone article last month. It has the SexyPlexi patch on it.

Andy, those the same ones you emailed me not too long ago? If so they are really awesome. I used several of them on a regular basis.

Re: Upgraded my POD XT Now I want to go backwards

Outstanding!!!! Thanks very much! I am much appreciative. I did work on it for about 3 hrs so far and I think I came up with something. I may post it as a tone test because the playing is not too groovy....but I really would like you both to hear what I edited up.

Re: Upgraded my POD XT Now I want to go backwards

Here is what I used for the POD XT Tone Test in Originals....
This is my first patch I am trying to off-load from the POD. I hope I got it..I did some minor tweaking after the save, but mainly the tone comes from the guitar...humbucker pickup (rhythm pickup..roll off volume to about 3-4 and then lead pickup gives the extra boost for dynamics...my pickups are stock Les Paul Humbuckers from 1977. Thanks for letting me share!

I'll check em out this weekend. I've got a 96 LP Std with stock Pups. Should be pretty close.

Re: Upgraded my POD XT Now I want to go backwards

3F, I love that patch. I was about to lay down some guitarwork on which I used it but friends came over and I ended up running out. It is now permanent on 32D and it's called 3Fingers Lead. I played along with several types of backings and it sounded great over them. I'll post something soon. Thanks again.

Also, I made 2 of Andy's patches permanent as well

Re: Upgraded my POD XT Now I want to go backwards

Hey Thanks Singx! For what you helped me with, it's the least I could do. Very glad you like it. I modeled it after my own amp as best as best I could. That's basically how I like my Marshall to sound...it's more versitile than people realize..with guitar volume backed off, it's a nice mellow tone in there...
