V-amp 2 preset change delay?
Hello, i have a little question. don't know if this is the right forum, but you seem cool
I have just bought a v-amp 2 and i've been playing around with it for a couple of days and i like it very much apart from a little detail; changing presets takes too long. when i change from one preset to another (via the footswitch for example) it takes about half a second before the sound changes (and inbetween it's silent). i guess that is cool if you are just jamming, but if you are in the middle of a song and need to change to distiortion or something really fast, then it's pretty annoying.
there seem to be a lot of stuff to configure on this one so i don't know if you are able to edit the time of preset-changing? Maybe via computer? i don't have a cable too hook it up that way yet.
any of you guys have an idea? thanks!

Re: V-amp 2 preset change delay?
I have a V-amp2 and I don't notice it too much when playing but it is there. I noticed more the volume spike when I change patches. I have found that if you time it right you won't even notice the lag I don't anymore.

I noticed the "lag" using the footswitch also. I hooked it up to my DMC Ground Control and it no longer lags.

DMC Ground Control? don't know what that is.
anyway i think the lag is a bit too long... the more i play the more i get irritaded by it. but what is that thing you talked about? anything expensive? strange if it stops lagging because you add something to it since it should be the change itself in the little box that takes time..

Re: V-amp 2 preset change delay?
I've heard that the behringer floorboard takes the lag away as well. But the floorboard costs as much as the v-amp

Re: V-amp 2 preset change delay?
hmm... ok. let's assume a footswitch via midi would take the lag away then. i have some other questions based on that. are there any, so to say, basic footswitches? that does nothing unless it's hooked to a v-amp thingie? because i just want the lag away. i don't feel like paying the double price again to buy that footswitch with lots of functions to get away the lag. and does any midi-footswitch fit? or how does this work? i'm pretty new to the electric-part of the game. i just know how to play the guitar :P
i mean, i can't be the first to complain about this? any help is greatly appreciated! i greatly appreciate the help i've got this far!
thanks!

Hmmm I used the 2 button footswitch and the fcb1010 and I don't think I noticed a difference in lag

Re: V-amp 2 preset change delay?
I have a V-Amp2, and I have noticed that their is a lag when you switch between some patches too. What I have hears is that if the patches you are switching between, use two different amp models, then you get a lag. If you are going to gig, set up your patches to use the one amp model within one song. You can use all the different effects, etc. Just stick to the one amp model during that song and no lag.

Re: V-amp 2 preset change delay?
Amra. thanks! that is great to know. is it that way with every amp model or only some of them?
any suggestion for a amp model where you can get a really clean sound ("normal") and at the same time get a relly nice distortion sound by adding lots of gain? i haven't tested out very much after this info, but if you have any good suggestions i'm eager to hear them . Thanks a lot!

Re: V-amp 2 preset change delay?
Amra was right, if you stick to the same amp model then there is no delay
I use the v-amp live thru a power amp and there is also no lag when using it in L2 configuration for gigs..thankfully

Re: V-amp 2 preset change delay?
Eamon, I think many of the amp models in there would sound decent clean. You might just take a bank that presets that you don't use, and edit one of the patches to be just like your favorite distortion patch, then do another one right next to it, with the same amp and gain turned down all the way, and whatever other effect you need and see how that works.
If that DOESN'T work, then find your favorite clean sound, and make a patch like it, and right next to it, crank the gain up, and see how that sounds.....
Hope that helps,
Amra
