v-amp2 users!!
any of you v-amp2 users trust it enough to use it during a gig? I have a crate half stack and I was wanting to pick up a v-amp2 to use through our board when we are on tight stages so I wouldn't have to lug the half stack out. any info on this would be greatful!!

I haven't yet but I take mine along just in case my amp dies, as a backup plan.
I would have no problem running mine straight to the board, I have tried it during rehearsals and it sounds as good as your sound system is.

been using mine live every weekend for 5 months now with no problems. the only thing i didn't like is that stupid footswitch they send you. i spent another $99 and bought another v-amp2 to have as a spare. now i set one up with rhythm patches and the second with lead patches and use an a-b switch to go from rhythm to lead and back

If you havent bought yet.. you might as well get the v-amp pro... its rackmount I dont play live.. but I would/and will use mine when the time comes.
EDIT: reread you post.. I would NOT use it directly into a PA for a gig. I would still mic my cab.

The V-AMP 2 was intented to go straight to the board. Outputting a V-AMP to an amp, then micing that amp is like micing an amp, then feeding that output into an amp, then micing THAT amp to the board. Of course you could turn off speaker cab simulation, but the V-AMP sounds weak when you turn off cab simulation.

I use it all the time with the cab sim turned off. I would not call it weak though.

Everytime I have heard it done that way, it sounds weak, when compared to "recording mode" which has the cabinet modeling on. If you want,
post a short little recorded riff recorded your way, and let's hear it.
I will post one recorded direct with the cabinet modeling on and we can do a direct comparison...

that's a pretty damn smart idea since I heard there is a delay when you switch channels on the v-amp2. would love to pickup a couple off eBay for cheap. do you have any sound clips that I can hear? I have listened to the ones off Musicians Friend but wanna hear real people using it.
Thanx bro!

Hey Man, Click on my little boom box, and you will see all my recordings. They were all done with a VAmp 2

Haahaa, thanks man As for gigging with it, I have a Marshall 50 watt AVT halfstack, so honestly I probably would not since my amp already does a fine job for what I need. Also, keep in mind the more gear you gig with, the more you risk losing. But the VAmp is great for recording, which is the reason I bought it

that's the thing, I have a crate half stack and if we gig out and have a small stage area I would like to run through the board so I can have more room.

i thought about getting a v-amp pro untill i found out that it is not footswitchable and i don't want to use a midi pedalboard. so i opted to get the second v-amp2. as for using it without an amp, i have used it plugged into the board and patched it through the monitors and it sounds great. it's just a little wierd not having your sound coming from behind you if you are used to it but once you crank it through the monitors you get used to it pretty quickly. the thing i like best is the sound versitility. i use 10 different rhythm and 5 different lead patches. try that with a marshall or boogie alone

yea I noticed the footswitch deal on the pro also. by the time you buy both you have more in it then running 2 v-amp2's. the cover band I'm in I have to use alot of different rhythm sounds (like you). that's why I want to do this type of setup. I mic my cab at practice and gigs so I am use to hearing myself thru the monitors anyway. what kind of A/B switch are you using? if possible could you post up a pic of how you have your setup just so I can see ? Thankx for all the input guys!!
