Re: VAmp and MIDI
You are most likely already an administrator of your local machine if you installed it yourself.

EJ,
I though your were a computer guru
Anyway, make sure you see the MIDI device registered under "device manager". You can also check if from "control panel" audio devices and the MIDI playback sound window..even though you will not select it for the default there.
If that does not work...call me and I'll try and fix it remotely for you.

Re: VAmp and MIDI
EJ,
Sounds like you got your MIDI interface working. Please post that Floyd patch you invented.

Re: VAmp and MIDI
Still no dice. I have read just about everything out there as well as tried just about everything. I am goingto chalk it up to a bad port on my computer and buy a new soundcard in the next day or so. Right now, the port is integrated on my mother board and supposedly working though I have no way to verify, so I am thinking a completely new and separate card will do the trick.

Re: VAmp and MIDI
Sounds like a long shot....but who knows. Do you have a joystick you can test the port with? A new soundcard might be a good purchase anyway.
If you can't get it working you can always bring it over and I'll try and figure it out.
You could solve all your problems with a Tascam US-122. It is a pre-amp (1/4 and XLR), pro quality soundcard, and MIDI controller all in one box for about $130 or so on E-bay.

Re: VAmp and MIDI
This may seem like a really dumb question, but have you got both the input and output midi ports hooked up to the V-Amp? It only works if they are both connected otherwise it won't recognise the device.

Re: VAmp and MIDI
Sorry I couldn't help EJ. I think a new sound card may be the way forward

Re: VAmp and MIDI
Just a quick note about soundcards, I have the M-Audio Delta 1010LT, it has 10(ins) & 10 (outs) with every plug you can think of. I really like it and it's not that expensive (around $230), but well worth it. Very Professional stuff. Only reason I jumped in was I had the same problem with Guitar Port). Re: VAmp and MIDI
Alright VHFanOU812, you were right. No dice on getting the MIDI working on the new sound card either (SB Live). I have swapped the in's and out's, and still no luck when I scan for the VAmp... Any other ideas?

Re: VAmp and MIDI
VHFanOU812 fixed the problem. He suggested (and hooked up) a USB MIDI cable instead of game port MIDI cable, which ould not be recognized by the VAMP2 software. Now I can begin making and stealing patches
