VAMP2 Live ?!

Hi,
i have got a VAMP2 and my amp is a small CRATE GX15R. I plan to play with a band..as 15W will no more be enough, i'd like to know what's, for you, the best way to use my VAMP2 .

i've seen on french guitar boards that some people make their own amplified cabinets using car amps.

I don't know if it's a very good idea..what do you think about it ?

do you know good amplified speakers wich do not cost too much ? (well.. i'm looking for anything for 200USD or less if possible)

furthermore, how much watts do you think i need as a lead rock guitar player to play in small areas like pubs ? i'm thinking about anything like 65w-100w am i wrong ?

Thx a lot, and sorry for my bad english !

Re: VAMP2 Live ?!

You have a lot of questions here but I can try and answer one.

If you are playing live 15 watts is not enough, unless you mic it and run into a PA system. You can get away with 50 watts if you are not going to push much low end.

I would suggest running your Vamp along with another stage amp. Use your stage amp for a monitor and run the Vamp into the board for the PA.

It all really depends on how loud your drummer plays.

Re: VAMP2 Live ?!

Well, thanks for your reply.
i mailed behringer, i've been advised to buy their blue devil guitar amp and to connect my vamp2 to it, or a europower EP1500 (which is 2x700w ! (but not rms ) + SPEAKERS. Well.. none of those solutions interest me coz .. i think buying a guitar amp would not be a good thing as i already have an amp simulator, and the other solution isn't better as 2x700W (which i think must make around 700W rms) is really to much for me.

So..i'd like to know if anybody can give me advices about good PA Systems (nearly 65-100W RMS) they know. Well.. i can afford paying 300$ for it, not more..
:-s

Thanks a lot.

Thumbs down

The suggestion above to use your Crate as a stage monitor and eithe mic your V-amp or run it into the PA. If that won't do it. Get the Vampire lx-1200h. I got it and the matching cab for around $400. Every weekend i impress the heck out of people with it. It will do everything the V-amp pro will and push 120 watts rms as well. The included footswitch is okay but get the floorboard if you use a lot of different patches in a set.

Use your V-AMP 2 straight to the mixer\PA. That's how it was meant to be used. If you really want some kind of amp and you want to use your V-AMP as your primary sound, buy a keyboard amp. The V-AMP really sounds best through a full range speaker system...
