Van Halen GP tones

Ok I got my guitaport working ONLY by downloading the old version of it.

It still uses the gpt files.

Does anybody have, say, EVH's tone so I can try to put it in one of the preset folders?

TIA!

Here you go, mate! Whack these in your USER folder within the Line 6 Tones folder. By the way the tone called "Aint Talking bout love" in the default Preset Folder is fairly close to the VH1 sound. Play through a good monitor like your hifi speakers, using the red and white audio cables from the back of the guitarport to the ones in your HIFI...and change your sound card setting in control panel to "Guitarport". I had a big smile on my face when I linked up and hit my first eruption power chord.

Good luck...let us know how you get on, and post some soundage!

Cheers

James

Most tones you'll get may not work cause you're running the old version. Try downloading the Line 6 Monkey and upgrading that thing. You won't regret it

Ok I basically give up with this.
No big deal really.

I have everything I need except that USB firmware update which for some damn reason Line 6 MONKEY won't connect and let me download it.
Nor can I connect online THRU Guitar Port.

I'm totally up to date on everything except that USB thingy.

So what I did is install the oldest version of Guitar Port and it works.
I can NOT connect to the internet thru that old version either but so what?

Line 6 tech support help basically blows.
They linked me to a website in which I can purchase I license key for 100 bucks.
I refuse to do that since I've already bought their G. Port red box used off of ebay.
In short they should have an option to buy a license key for like 50 bucks since I already own the hardware. Kinda like for somebody like me who is halfway there.

I'm glad I didn't buy one of these brand new only to find out that Line 6 and their support forum is filled with people having problems.. and connectivity issues.

Sorry for the rant, but whatever. it's partly Microsoft's problem too since Windoze and IE is basically a shoebox with big holes in it. (thank god for Firefox!)

Lastly, those tones you nice people posted for me won't load for either version of GP.

What settings are you actually using for them?
Like you know, exact settings so maybe I can just duplicate them by tweaking the knobs individually.

thanx for reading this guys!
