As for the tone, ity has a nice dark sound to it. What are you using?

I really like the tone, very cool. I am assuming you are using a XXX. Are you using 6l6 or EL34's, the tone has a nice tight bottom, which I like. How did you mike your amp as your quality is good?
I've heard that the XXX is a great high-gain amp, like the 5150 - but, that it has a better clean channel. I think that Joe Satriani was using the XXX amps for while as a prototype for the JSX series that Peavey now makes. I do know that George Lynch was involved early on in the design of the XXX - and anything George get's his hands on turns out great.

I usually run JJ E34L's but since the latest scare on that tube and that amp I've currently got Sovtek 6L6wxt's.As far as mic placement botton speaker in 4x12 1/2 way between cone and edge of speaker.
for a more EVH shound try a little chorus and a tiny bit of delay or reverb. For a heavy dry sound I would just ad a touch of reverb. I think the overall tone is awesome. I am going to go check out a XXX this weekend. LOL, Dont worry the 5150(combo) is not going to go homeless...
