2005 MLB playoffs !
OK, season's over and it's time to get down to business for 8 teams.
We've had a lot of talk in the Yankees thread and now we have some discussion spilling in there supporting other teams, so I think it's only fair to have a thread where fans of all teams can talk ball.
So come in here and support your teams, peeps. Competitive talk is encouraged, but let's keep it civil.
Here's the slate for today:
Padres (Jake Peavey, 13-7, 2.88) at St. Louis (Chris Carpenter, 21-5, 2.83)
1:09p.m. ET, ESPN
Red Sox (Matt Clement, 13-6, 4.57) at White Sox (Jose Contreras, 15-7, 3.61) 4:09p.m. ET, ESPN
Yankees (Mike Mussina, 13-8, 4.41) at Angels (Bartolo Colon, 21-8, 3.48)
8:19 p.m. ET, FOX
Atlanta and Houston start their series tomorrow night in Hotlanta.

Here's my predictions for the first round (division series) -
Chicago over Boston in 5.
New York over the Angels in 5.
St. Louis over San Diego in 3.
Houston over Atlanta in 4.
Kind of hard to make predictions after that because of possible injuries and hot/cold streaks, but that's all part of the game. Soooooooo, I will go ahead and make these picks past the division series -
New York over Chicago in 6 for the A.L. title.
St. Louis over Houston in 5 for the N.L. title.
**St. Louis over New York in 6 for the World Championship.
** Just for predictions sake, of course. I'll be rooting for the Yanks to take it all.
Go Yanks!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd go with Boston, St. Louis, Atlanta, and then the Yankees (bias). Although the Angels often seem to have the Yankees "number" and I don't like the first game pitching matchup.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about our pitching matchup tonight either, Figs. I also agree about the Angels having our number at times. I feel better about playing them above Chicago and Boston right now, though. Interseting thing I read in the paper today - they say that New York has come back to win their last several division series after dropping the first game. Not that I want us to lose the opener, or course. LOL

That's true, they have lost a lot of game 1's since '96....well let's hope the good Mussina shows up tonight!

Holy crap, what a doozy! Padres had the bases loaded with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth and could have pulled out a shocking game 1 rally win against the Cards.
Cards led 8-0 going into the 7th, and SD plated 5 runs before that scenario. Isringhausen K's Ramon Hernandez to kill the rally.
This is playoff baseball!
Sox-Sox just starting up.....

Condescending?? Have you not heard about the whole deal with chicks that dig baseball? They are HOT! Especially in their ball caps with their ponytails sticking out. Condescending? Hardly. Major compliment, yes.
I seem to recall watching the best World Series game of my life with a girl a couple years ago.... Trust me, it was hot.
