They have got to get a reliable closer if they want to get very far in the play-offs. The worst thing they did was move Smoltz back to the starting rotation.

They picked up Kyle farnsworth from the Tigers a couple of weeks ago. A good pickup, but according to scouts, he does not trust his fastball enough to be a reliable closer. The boy can fight though!

I think it's amazing the Braves are going to win their 14th straight, (could be wrong) division title. Great manager. Yeah, it's a huge dissapointment to have only one Series ring to show for it, but for pure longevity I'm not sure that record will ever be duplicated.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with your statement that moving Smoltz was a bad idea....he is 12-6, his ERA is about 2.90. In the last ten games he has posted 6 wins and 1 Loss and out of the 10 games he appeared in they won 9 of them.

When he pitches he really pushes the team to win and I think even though I do agree that he was awesome out of the bullpen. Sometimes a team needs that extra uummpphh in the early innings leading up to the end of the game.

Either way I hate the braves i am actually a Yankees fan. But John Smoltz is one of my favorite players to watch just for sheer intensity and leadership. The guy is a pure classy act!

I agree with you about him being a starter and all, but they have Hudson and Hampton. If they would of played it right in the off season they could have gotten at least one more good starter. ( triple A or free agent). But right now they dont have a reliable closer.
