ATLANTA -- Former teammates and friends expressed surprise and sadness Monday upon learning of the death of three-time All-Star Ken Caminiti.
Caminiti, a former Houston Astro who won the 1996 National League Most Valuable Player Award for San Diego and helped the Padres reach to the World Series in 1998, died of heart failure in New York on Sunday. He was 41.
Rest well.
