Favorite Sports Announcers
I was wondering who might be some of your favorite sports announcers over the years. I gotta say my favorite pair of all time has too be, Bill Clement and Mike Emrick. There's nothing like hearing those two guys call a game. Bill is still very good, but Gary Thorne kinda irks me. He has the tendency too mess up names, and just really isnt my cup of tea.
My favorite announcer of all time is the legend, Harry Kalas. There is nothing like a 75 degree summer day, with a nice, flowing steady breeze. Burgers, chicken, hot dogs and ribs on the grill. An ice cold beverage of choice, and a Phillies game on the radio. There's nothing better then listening too that man call a ball game. Harry is the best in the business in my book.
Joe Buck rocks too

Re: Favorite Sports Announcers
Well, you know I'm "old-school" (goes hand in hand with being old, err...43), so my favorites of all time have to be Pat Summerall and Tom Brookshire.
When sober (heck, even when they weren't) they (IMO) were the best team ever.
Honorable mentions: Jack Buck, Harry Carey, Kurt Gowdy and Benny Parsons.
Hall of Shame: Chris Shankle

Dude I envy you I think the worst crew around is that ESPN Sunday Night crew. All they do is agrue and bicker between eachother all night. Its ridculous, and on top of that, the games they carry suck more times then not.

Monday Night Football coverage with Dandy Don Meredeth and Howard Cosell. Frank Gifford was pretty good as well. Out of all of them, Still like John Madden, but Keith Jackson my all time favorite...not College ball without him.

Hell yea, I forgot all about Keith Jackson. I actually still like Madden as well, and he and Al Michaels do a pretty good job together.

Marve Albert, so what if he likes to bite a little booty, who doesn't! But my all time favorite's is Madden he is great at the play by play and was as ruthless as they come leading the ass kicking Raiders in the 70's. It's a crack up to hear some of the stuff he pulled off and got away with back then.

Re: Favorite Sports Announcers
I'm not even gonna touch the booty comment! Marv does rock though. I love listening too him, but if Walton is doing the color commentating, I just cant stomach it.
I hate the Cowboys with every once of my being, but I must say that Aikman and Johnston are two of the best out there for sure. Cris Collinsworth can be a dick, but atleast he calls it the way he sees it.

Can't go wrong with Summerall and Maddenbut my personal favorite George Kell and Al Kaline, they were the Detroit Tigers' TV team back in the eighties and early ninties I will always remember hearing them call the game when the Tigers won the world series in'84! Re: Favorite Sports Announcers
Dick is too wrapped up in his character these days. Yea it was cool and fun over the years, but now it's kinda old. I respect the man cause he knows his b-ball no doubt, but he's gonna have a heart attack on air if he doesnt chill out.

Re: Favorite Sports Announcers
I grew up listening to Frank Glieber and Brad Sham calling Cowboy games. After Frank lost his battle with cancer in the early 1980's, his slot was filled by Dale Hansen. What a great local broadcast team.
As far as national broadcasters go - I'm a sucker for the classic MNF crew. Nothing like Dandy Don grating Howard's nerves.

Re: Favorite Sports Announcers
Dunno if you folks caught any of the promos on ESPN over the weekend, yet Chris Berman will be returning to "SportsCenter" Sunday May 9th.
I can deal with him for football, to an extent baseball...but that's about it.
And somebody...please keep him away from any P.G.A. analysis! He simply doesn't do his homework, and uses "NFL" references for GOLF .
Other than that, I welcome him back.
