Re: NFL Season 2004
Mikemellow, jealous you were there. My father-in-law has season tickets and sold them. I'd divorce his daughter for it if he wasn't already taking me to a few games. So I guess I'll keep her around. TJ, Dillion will get his stats. He actually didn't have that bad of a game, almost 6 something a carry. Just didn't get in the end zone. Little worried about the run defense. Traylor didn't hold the nowe that well. But hopefully he'll work into the position overtime. Tough to learn a two gap system. If not , hopefully Wilfork will get it. Well, one win on the way to Jacksonville. Good game to open the season, especially with the Pats on top (wouldn't have been good if colts won)

Re: NFL Season 2004
Sucka, gotta disagree with ya a little. Do teams give the win away or is it the result of good defense and fundamentals. Both of James' fumbles were with 3 or 4 Pats on top of him and swiping at the ball, all parts of good fundamental, sound defense. Same as the Manning interception, all about faking a blitz, Bruschi dropping into zone, and making a great diving catch some tight ends couldn't catch. Yes, the is always some luck, but you have to be around the ball causing an action to get a result. Sorry, but I'm a little defensive about my team, I think just like you were about the Philly DB's when they were picked on in the offseason! LOL. Good luck against the Giants, although I don't think you'll need that much luck!

No he did have a pretty good game but he only netted me 4 points lol, but I am sure he will help me out during the rest of the season, plus I got Preist Holmes too so I figure I have a pretty good backfield lol

Re: NFL Season 2004
I just gotta go back to the beginning of this thread and let you know that rumor has it that the Seahawks will be the team that takes down Philly in the NFC championship game this year...

Re: NFL Season 2004
Seattle looks good, but the receivers have to hold onto the ball. Too many drops, and Hasselback has to be consistent throughout the season, not just at certain points. Philly still looks good. TO's gonna take alot of pressure off of Westbrook and Pinkerton

I see your point, but what I meant by the Colts giving away the game was this. Good teams know how to finish teams. i.e. The Patriots. The Colts are a very good team, but when it comes to beating an elite team like the Pats, they just cant do it. I think Manning's record against them is like 2-9 or something like that. Good teams know how to finish games and not give them away on stupid turnovers. So that's what I meant really. I didn't mean to discount the Pats stellar defense, because that was a huge factor. I was so happy for Wille gettin that sack cause I'm a huge fan of his. Until the Colts learn how to stop beating themselves, they'll never learn how to beat the Patriots.
Stellar job you guys did on Harrison by the way

Re: NFL Season 2004
I understand what you are saying now Sucka. Colts/Manning have been like that for years though. They just got past the first round of the playoffs last year. Just can't seem to win a big game.
I was suprised about Harrison not having bigger numbers with Ty Law out. Papers saying he was cramping. You could actually see him yelling that he could go, and Bill said he couldn't. Willie has stepped up huge last two years. Really has turned around his career, I thought a few years ago he was on his way out.

Re: NFL Season 2004
The Giants got OWNED!!!!
Inquirer Staff Writer
Tardy seems to suit Terrell Owens fine.
After just the second three-touchdown game of his career yesterday, the Eagles' wide receiver confessed that he was late for his first day of regular-season work at Lincoln Financial Field.
"It was pretty rough," Owens said. "I really didn't expect the traffic to be so hectic. I got off on the Pattison Avenue exit and I saw all the traffic, and ended up getting on the shoulder," Owens said. "I didn't really know which way to go. I asked one of the policemen which way to go, and he said, 'Dude, you're not going to make it.' He said, 'You're not going to make it.' So he said, 'Let me call an escort for you.' Thank goodness for that."
Exactly how late was the Eagles' star receiver?
"I was on time for the game, and that's all that matters," Owens said.
True enough.
He contributed three touchdowns to a 31-17 Eagles victory over the New York Giants and everyone went home happy.
Goal-line stand. Down by 21 points with time running out in the third quarter, quarterback Kurt Warner had led his team from its own 20-yard line to a first down at the Eagles' 1.
A touchdown meant the Giants still had hope. Instead, the Eagles' defense stiffened, and Warner and the Giants made their most crucial of a long list of mistakes.
On first and goal from the 1, defensive tackle Sam Rayburn got a forward push against the Giants' offensive line and a diving Mark Simoneau stuffed Ron Dayne for a 1-yard loss. On second down, Dayne went left and pushed forward enough to get the Giants back to the 1. On third down, Warner and center Shaun O'Hara botched the snap, and a rushing Jevon Kearse rolled to his left and picked up the football.
The Giants were finished.
"We've done that in the past the last couple seasons," Eagles coach Andy Reid said. "I just expect we'll do that now."
Corey Simon said it's only slightly more complicated than that.
"Goal line is just about heart and fight," Simon said.
L.J.'s terrific day. A year ago on opening night, L.J. Smith dropped a pass on a fake field-goal attempt in the end zone on a fourth-and-1 play.
Yesterday, he made the most sensational catch of the game when he streaked across the field and caught a bullet from Donovan McNabb in the right corner of the end zone.
Any flashbacks to his first opening day afterward? "It was nice to have this happen in my first game," Smith said.
Injuries. Cornerback Lito Sheppard left the game in the second quarter with a fractured right thumb. He did return in a soft cast and plans to continue playing.
"It was pretty stable in the cast," Sheppard said. "I think if I can find a cast that helps keep it stabilized, I'll be all right."
Linebacker Nate Wayne did not dress after aggravating a hamstring injury during practice Friday. Keith Adams started in Wayne's place, and there's plenty of reason to believe Adams could remain as the starting weakside linebacker for a while.
Wayne was hampered by the hamstring injury through much of training camp and was in for just one play in the team's final two exhibition games.
Andy's marks. Reid improved to 2-4 in season openers and tied Dick Vermeil for second on the Eagles' coaching victory list with 57. Reid is 57-33 and Vermeil was 57-51. Greasy Neale tops the list with 66 wins.
Extra points. In addition to Wayne, the Eagles also deactivated rookie cornerback Matt Ware, free safety Clinton Hart, defensive end Jamaal Green, defensive tackle Paul Grasmanis, and offensive linemen Trey Darilek and Steve Sciullo. Jeff Blake was the third quarterback.... Jeremiah Trotter had words with Giants tight end Marcellus Rivers in the second quarter after the Eagles reserve linebacker leveled punter Jeff Feagles near the end of a Reno Mahe return.... The Eagles won on opening day for the first time since the 2000 season, when they routed Dallas. That's the last time they did not make it to the NFC championship game.
