Official World Cup Thread (Merged)
Well its looking grim , we have one of the worst squads on record , at the back we have Sol Campbell who weeks ago ran out of an Arsenal match " to get his head together" , midfield we have ****er Beckham who thinks more about his ****ing hairstyle than football , then Owen bless him , ****ing useless in my book , small lightweight but suffers brittle bones and is prone to falling over in light winds .then we have Crouch who is the tallest ****er on the planet . this truly is a ridiculous state of affairs , Crouch dribbles like a clown on stilts , and lastly we have wonder boy WALMART WALCOTT , we have seen more of Bin Laden over this last year than Walmart Walcott , what is this wonder boy supposed to be good at , " hiding " , we are a joke at the moment , and to be honest putting Mclaren in the hot seat is the last straw , he might of gave the Boro a decent run but he is not England Management material , that should of gone to Alan Curbishly . anyway i cannot wait to see this England clown team , ****ing ****e ! ! ! ! !

I dunno. I felt more optimistic about our chances this morning than I have ever done.
Campbell and Cole came through well in the Champions League final. I too had serious doubts about Campbell but he seemed to handle himself well in that game. Cole looked good too.
Then in the paper, Owen smashed two past Paul Robinson in a training match which they won 3-1. Crouch getting the other goal for the winning side, and Andy Johnson scoring for the other team.
Apparently we have a fit Owen who is also sharp and full of energy cuz so he isn't knackered like he has been before because he hasn't been playing for Newcastle recently.
Still not convinced by the Walcott issue. It seems to be a last ditch attempt to cling onto an omen of '66. I seriously hope I am proved wrong and history can repeat itself, but I just cannot see it myself. Still, he is getting high praise from other players in the camp.
But yeah, I'm a lot more optimistic than I was, especially considering Gerrard and Lampard are in the form of their lives. Let's not forget that Lampard scored a shed load more goals than most strikers in the premiership, so there could be a real goal threat throughout the team rather than the burden being placed solely on our forwards.
Just my tuppence, for what it's worth...

yeah i agree mondy. art must be on his period today or something . but England have a good chance in my book. whole squad of world class players. Big ****ing deal Rooney aint there. The boy is a ****y little tosser if you ask me. We dont need him. He just makes the job that bit easier.
If the desire is there and the passion is boiling up inside the nation. There is no reason why we cannot win the whole thing.
I hate this whole "we lost already" attitude. a ball hasnt even been kicked and the majority of England seem determined we are going to fail.
Is this what it has come to. Is this what being british has come to ?.
So ****ing negative. I for one will be keeping the hope.

I think that is what being British is all about. We don't really kick up a song and dance about much to be honest.
I don't think how hard we celebrate or be optimistic in the pubs or homes or where we watch the games will affect the team's performance to be honest.
It's all about whether those players will perform or not.
And that's where people are finding it hard to be optimistic based on the selection of players.
I mean, I am optimistic everytime I play the lottery and am convinced I am going to win, but my selection of numbers doesn't perform according to my expectations...

i completely disagree Mondy. Players can feed off the positivity of their nations people. Unlike a lottery ball. Players may have a similar IQ to a lottery ball. But they can feed off the positivity of the people. Im convinced of that. It is up to them at the end of the day but i feel we can play out part. It's a shame you see it in the light you do. Cause most others seem to think that way too. No wonder we dont ****ing win anything these days.
But you are of course entitled to your opinion. No matter how wrong it may be

Hmm, let me expand what I am saying.
No matter how much I scream at the telly in the corner in my room, it is gonna have **** all influence over the players on the pitch ! Unless they have some form of X-Men type abilities.
Granted, the people at the games can rightly have an influence, but that's not the majority of the English public that will be watching it on telly's around the UK that I thought we were talking about.
i.e. your average Joe Public, like you and me.
I can understand the whole - be positive vibe, but just how the hell is it going to carry over to players many miles away ?
I hope for the best, young one, I really do, but as I have stated before, I am not that optimistic. You are young, and full of hope and enthusiasm, and I applaud that, because somehow it all seems to get slowly lost along the way as you become an old cynical bastard !!!

Just got back from watching the second half. Cech is a great golie, and there were not too many chances. Need to hope for Italy to draw.

World Cup
....should sent Ronaldo home after that disgusting display of indifference. That has to be the only time I can remember the Brazilian fans booing one of their own in the world cup in recent years.

Aye, he certainly seemed completely bored and not bothered by the whole thing. Good for The England. Not so much for Brazil... thing is... brazil have a Football God in every position anyway. Still... they didnt look overly convincing did they. First games though are were you find your feet. I wonder how harsh the Brazillian media will be on the team. I wonder if they compare to how harsh and cynical and pecimistic the English media is.
btw... HAWAY THE LADS 2 - 0 .WOOT!
