I was just on my way in here to post the same thing. Damn, what a shame - only 45 years old. I always respected Kirby a ton as a a player.

Wow. I sort of overheard something about his health the other day. What a damn shame. He was a great player and a class act.
He hit the hardest hit ball I've ever seen in person. A line shot that hit the upper deck facade at old Cleveland Municipal Stadium. For those of you that don't know about it, that stadium was cavernous. It held 72,000 for baseball. We were right under where it hit, and that ball just rocketed into that facade. If it wasn't there, I'd love to know how far that ball would have gone.

I'm late, I know. As a baseball die-hard and since age five (Have about 10,000 baseball cards and over 200 books I've read on the sport. Its obvious, I'm a die-hard fan. Thanks to my grandpa, may he also R.I.P.!) I feel ashamed I didn't reply sooner. A great player, as we all know, and a member of two great World Series teams (and the reason I say this is because I LOVE the Twins).
So Kirby, may you rest in peace. Tell grandpa I said hi! He'll believe its me, as he knows I thought you were a phenominal player.

Kirby Puckett was a tremendous talent and an incredible baseball player. He added an electricity to the game that is exceptionally rare. He was an even better human being and a true class act. I was lucky to see him in two games when I was younger. He played the game because it was a game and not a business.
