Yeah, and the current squad selection doesn't fill me with much hope either !!!

1/2 a striker in the whole squad !!!

Who knows, that Theo kid could be the star of the world cup, I can't see it though, he's not even had a debut with his club, Ar5enal. I know Defoe is a spurs player, but get that boy in the squad ASAP please.... Owen will not be sharp, Rooney needs a miracle, Peter Crouch may have a goal drought!!, Andy Johnson should also be in there....Shaun Wright Philips too.

I am not confident at all in the provisional squad....let's hope we have a change of luck before the tournament starts.

It's a crying shame that neither Defoe nor Bent have got in the squad. I mean, Bent has scored more goals in the premiership than Wayne Rooney and he isn't in the sqad. Defoe has proved he can score, but he's not in the squad.

Walcott scores a great goal for Southampton that looks good on TV and, along with influence from Wenger and Arsenal's chairman, makes it into the squad. Apparently, since he watches Henry in training, one can make comparisons.

**** me, I watch Match of the Day every Saturday night, but I couldn't score in a ****ing brothel !

I don't agree that Wright Phillips should be in the squad cuz I don't think he has performed this season at Chelsea.

But then again, I don't think Campbell should be in there either. Or Owen Hargreaves.

It's a crazy sqaud for sure, and I would be much happier if Defoe, Bent and Andy Johnson were in there.

Absolutely crazy. I cannot see Rooney playing, as there is no evidence of anyone ever recovering from a Metatarsal break in 6 weeks.

Lot of expectation on the young lads shoulders, but I just can't see him living up to the expectation. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I just cannot see it...

i dunno you guys. this has echoes of 66'. They were missing their Rooney type star back then. They stuck in a somewhat unknown player and we ended up winning the whole competition. I think theres a method to Sven's madness here. Owen will get back to form during the friendly warm up games. I agree Darren Bent should have been in the side.

But... im not overly worried... Look at Germany in 2002. Entered with a very young squad. Not much experience. Alot of their top players not able to compete. And they reached the final.

Keep a stiff upper lip chaps. Be british. Stand and deliver. To be a winner you need the right attitude. Accepting defeat before a ball has even been kicked aint the way to go IMO.

Rooney is no mug , nice little summer break , did his foot in just enough to get his feet up , watch the world cup , still earn millions in the deal , hey Rooneys no mug , smart scouser !
