04.You Are A Shit Audience
05.Vampire Spunk Merchants From Hell
06.Bitch Hell Mother
07.Motorbike
08.Warriors Of Ghengis Khan
09.Bad News

INFO : MYTH : The band first appeared in 1983, when they toured the UK for free. Hardly anyone attended these shows, but the band still landed an appearance on Channel 4’s TV-show "The Tube".Sadly a fight between band-members broke out, on-camera, and the band split up right after.
The band reunited in 1987, when they were offered a record contract with the independant label "Frilly Pink", a gay label most renowned for their discoreleases. The band recorded one single for the label, "Warriors of Ghenghis Khan", before they were sold on to EMI (Every Mistake Imaginable), a major label renowned for almost having turned The Beatles down (Good cause the Beatles suck!!!). The label released the bands debut album, "Bad News", in 1987.
The band appeared at the Monsters of Rock festival at Castle Donington that year. Their set was cut short when the band was attacked by fans (fans of Heavy Metal, not fans of Bad News) on stage. Apparantly bandleader Vim Fuego had made some remark about being the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix, which incited the riot.
The intire band was hospitalised after the riot, but in December they were back on the road. They were supporting Motörhead, on a national tour, in the wake of their first hitsingle, "Cashing In On Christmas", recorded, produced, and released by EMI, almost without the bands involvement. They also gigged with Iron Maiden for a charity show for Clive Burr, jeff Beck played with them as well!
Vim appeared on a childrens tv show talking about the “Heavy Metal Lifestyle” and then the band split up again.Their final appearance was on the Comic Relief '89 show, where only Vim, Spider, and Den turned up. Colin couldn't be bothered! The lack of decent Heavy Metal instruments prevented them from performing on the show.

INFO : FACT : Hiding behind the stage names of Vim, Colin,Dennis & Spider, were: Adrian Edmonson, Rik Mayall, Nigel Planer (hot of the success of The Young Ones), and Comic Strip writer, producer and director Peter Richardson. All four had worked together at the Comic Strip stage shows in the early 80's, and had by 1983 got a deal to make a series of films for British TV.
Bad News was almost instantaniously a cult hit, both amongst comedy and metal fans. What we had here was a surprisingly realistic portrayal of a Metal band anyone remember the NWOBHM band Tooth and their legendary drunk tapes (1979-1982).
Bad News then found themselves in the position of actually being a real band and what followed was appearences on Wogan,Tube,Top Of The Pop’s etc as well as 2 albums (the first of which featured Queen’s Brain May and John Deacon and a sample of jimmy Page from Whole Lotta Love).Playing the Donington Festival was a dangerous choice, although set up by Chanel 4 it was a serious music festival.Sharing a bill with legends Motorhead and Ozzy Osbourne (remember him? He used to be a singer and have dignity) and utter crap like Def Leppard.

Rik and Ade later went on to bigger sucess with the tv series Bottom, this lead to the Cd reissue of the first album and a best of compilation with some (but not all) of the second album titled Bootleg.

Excellent, top notch

"I could play "Stairway To Heaven" when I was 12. Jimmy Page didn't actually write it until he was 22. I think that says quite a lot." - Vim Fuego

They also played Reading the same year, just before the Donnington show I believe, a truly hilarious spectacle - the quantity of flying bottles had to be seen to be believed! I seem to remember them playing a pretty rough version of bohemian rhapsody (with someone else playing the solo...).

Already have this on CD, but definitely worth a comment. The 2 comic strip shows are hilarious. Much as I loved Spinal Tap, I think these are funnier and very well researched. I think you have to be a Heavy Metal fan to realise quite how funny the scripts were, but luckily I am, so that's not a problem. I remember seeing them at Edinburgh Playhouse around this time and it was just as funny live. I was doubled up with laughter. Remember it started with the band arguing cos Nigel Planer was in a chicken outfit (He was supposed to be a huge cock!) - Fabulous. Any more boots would be great. I don't think there are many, but I believe 1 exists from that tour.

unfortunately this seems to have been deleted from rapidshare.

I was at the gig and it was hilarious... only band I've ever seen who smashed their instruments up before they played.

The Reading gig was the following year, I saw that too.. Bryan May who produced their album game on to jam for the final song although I'd moved over to the other stage to see Magnum by then. Great post, shame I can't get hold of it!

Vim: Hello, Colin?
Colin: Yes, what is it now?
Vim: You know that really fucking moronic bass run you do?
Colin: Which one?
Vim: That one that goes "Dunna Dunna Dunna Dunna Dit Dit Dit Dit..."
Colin: Yes, what about it?
Vim: Can you change it up a bit? Can you make it go "Dunna Dunna Dunna Dunna DAAA! Dunna Dunna Dunna Dunna DAAA! and you can slide your finger down the fretboard.
Colin: No- I've got a cut.
Vim: Can't you use a different finger?
Colin: Well, it might mean using a different string.

LMAO!!! Classic stuff. Please reupload this one. I'd love to hear it. Also- I know of the album produced by Brian May, but I never heard of the other one. Can anyone give any info on it? Thanks!

The second Bad News album 'Bootleg' was a series of long semi-improvised sketches and not much music as I recall. Still hilariously funny though and highly recommended. I had both albums on a c-90 tape for many years but I don't know what happened to it.

If only we could find both albums....

I have the Brian May produced one, but I don't dare put it on here. Technically, if an album is called "Bootleg", could it be posted here?

Here's the 2 episodes concerning the musical talents of the heavy metal band "Bad News".

"I mean, we'd be as rich as the Stones if only we'd sold as many records as them".

Could someone please re-up the audio boot of the Castle Donington show?

I have a commercial VHS with the original Bad News documentary as well as the return of Bad News in "More Bad News", but MBN does not have the full set....just a few clips, and then when Vim Fuego says something like "I am the reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix" and gets his ass-kicked by the audience lol.

Warriors Of Ghengis Khan is one of the most hilarious songs I have ever heard.
This is WAY funnier than Spinal Tap!
